Game 1: Wire 2 Wire vs One Hit Wonders

Wire 2 Wire got out on top early in the top of the 1st scoring two runs on an RBI single by Derek Acker and a fielder’s choice by Tom Signore. One Hit Wonders could not answer, and Wire 2 Wire had the early lead 2-0 after the 1st. Wire 2 Wire extended their lead in the top of the 2nd scoring 5 more runs on some walks, a two run RBI double by Acker and a two run RBI triple by Gene Walczak. One Hit Wonders would get two runs back in the bottom of the 2nd after a Rob Gisondi triple and a Jack Stepnowski single. Both would come around to score via base on balls. Wire 2 Wire leads One Hit Wonders 7-2 after the 2nd. Wire 2 Wire would not take the foot of the gas and produced another 5 runs in the top of the 3rd on RBI singles by Joe Dimezza, Signore and Bill Capper. One Hit Wonders got back into the game in bottom of the 3rd scoring 4 runs themselves on RBI singles by Gisondi, Mike Trivino, Stepnowski and an RBI double by Jimmy Cooker to cut the deficit to 12-6 after the 3rd. One Hit Wonders slowed Wire 2 Wire’s offense down in the top of the 4th, only allowing one run off an RBI double by Dimezza. One Hit Wonders then closed the gap even more in the bottom of the 4th after a two run RBI double by Andy Springer to make the score 13-8 Wire 2 Wire after the 4th. Wire 2 Wire’s bats went cold in the 5th scoring 0 runs which opened the door for One Hit Wonders. They took advantage and scored 3 runs off an RBI double by Trivino and an RBI single by Sean Strauss. Wire 2 Wire holding onto a slim lead 13-11 after the 5th. Wire 2 Wire woke the bats up in the 6th and played some small ball scoring 4 runs on an RBI double by Signore and 3 sacrifices by Walczak, Capper and Sean Butrica. Jesse Grasso tried to keep the game close as we entered the last stages by hitting a solo homerun for One Hit Wonders followed by an RBI single by Bill Groff to put the game within reach going into the 7th as the score stood at 17-13 Wire 2 Wire. Unfortunately for One Hit Wonders the floodgates would open in the top of the 7th and Wire 2 Wire would put the game out of reach as they scored 9 runs with RBI singles by Acker, Signore, Butrica and RBI doubles by Brett Anker and Alex Metz. Wire 2 Wire defeats One Hit Wonders 26-13.

Game 2: Wire 2 Wire vs Pitches Be Trippin

Wire 2 Wire going for the second win of the day and the offense would come out slow in the top of the 1st going scoreless. Pitches Be Trippin wasted no time during their first at bats and came out the gate scoring five runs on RBI singles by Bobby Scholly, Kevin Launiar, Tim Graf and an RBI double by CJ McCaffery. Pitches Be Trippin 5-0 after the 1st. Wire 2 Wire broke through in the top of the 2nd scoring two runs off an RBI single by Joe Dimezza and an RBI sac fly by Derek Acker. Pitches Be Trippin got the two runs back in the bottom of the 2nd on an error and an RBI single by Kris Karaba to extend the lead 7-2 after the 2nd. Wire 2 Wire would cut the deficit down to one run in the top of the 3rd scoring 4 runs on an RBI single by Brett Anker, two run RBI double by Alex Metz and another RBI sac fly by Acker. Pitches Be Trippin could not score in the bottom of the 3rd and kept the lead at one run heading into the 4th. Wire 2 Wire like the 7th inning of their first game exploded for another 9 runs in the top of the 4th on RBI singles by Acker, Gene Walczak, Sean Butrica, another RBI double by Metz and a homerun by Tom Signore giving them an 8 run lead they would not give back. Kris Karaba had a two run RBI double in the bottom of the 4th to cut the lead to six after the 4th. Wire 2 Wire added three more runs in the top of the 5th on an RBI single by Acker and a two run RBI double by Signore. Pitches Be Trippin struggled on offense the rest of the way but were able to push one run across in the bottom of the 5th on a sacrifice by Dan Kabonski. Tom Signore would homer for the second time in the top of the 6th as Wire 2 Wire poured it on scoring another 5 runs in the top of the 6th. Pitches Be Trippin failed to score in the bottom of the 6th and that would end the game due to run rule. Wire 2 Wire takes both games on the day beating Pitches Be Trippin 23-10.

Game 3: The Swingers vs Backyard Bombers

Swingers win 7-0 via forfeit.

Game 4: Pitch Please vs The Swingers

The Swingers started off cold in the top of the 1st and could not score any runs. Pitch Please came up and took the early lead, scoring three runs on an RBI single by Jeff McHahen and RBI doubles by Joe Kindt and Pete Donelly. Pitches Please lead 3-0 after the 1st. The lead would not hold long as The Swingers scored 4 runs in the top of the 2nd on RBI singles by Zach Nikander, Dave Pohle and Dion Green. Pitches Please tied the game in the bottom of 2nd on a Jon Beard RBI sac fly. Pitches Please would reclaim the lead in the 3rd after The Swingers failed to put up any runs. They scored 4 runs on RBI singles by Donelly, Adam Schlang and Mike McLaverty giving them an 8-4 lead heading into the 4th. The Swingers would add three runs between the 4th and 5th innings on RBI singles by Nikander, Matt Bachmann and Matt close. Pitches Please added one run on a Kyle Lowery RBI double to put the score at 9-7 Pitches Please heading into the 6th. Pitches Please would go on to hold the Swingers scoreless the rest of the way and added two more runs of their own on an RBI single by Donelly and an RBI double by Lowery to give Pitches Please an 11-7 win over The Swingers.

Game 5: Purple Cobras vs Doc’s Irish Pub

Doc’s Irish Pub scored one run in the top of the 1st on an RBI single by Joe Stankovics. Purple Cobras’ bats came out on fire as they answered with 8 runs with two three run RBI doubles by Andrew Coates and Bill Brancato, RBI single by Ty Allen and an RBI sac fly by Jordan Roman giving Purple Cobras an 8-1 lead after the 1st. Doc’s added three runs in the top of the 2nd on an RBI single by Matt Frontheiser, a walk and an RBI sac fly by Paul Elliot. Purple Cobras did not score in the bottom half of the 2nd and the score would stand at 8-4 Purple Cobras after the 2nd. Doc’s would take the lead in the top of the 3rd after a grand slam by Josh Keszcyk and an RBI sac fly by Frontheiser. Purple Cobras regained the lead 10-9 in bottom of the 3rd after a base on balls and an RBI sac fly by Dan Roman. Purple Cobras held Doc’s scoreless in the top of the 4th and added a run of their own on an RBI sac fly by Tom Friedman to extend the lead to 11-9 after the 4th. Doc’s would bring the deficit back to one run after an RBI single by Joe Stankovics, but this would be as close as they would get as Purple Cobras opened the game up in the bottom of the 5th scoring 8 runs on RBI doubles by Brandon and Jordan Roman, RBI singles by Friedman and Carmen Brancato and a two-run homerun by Ty Allen making the score 19-10 and that is how we would end as both teams did not score the rest of the game. Purple Cobras defeats Doc’s Irish Pub 19-10.

Game 6: Purple Cobras vs Dark Horse

The final game of the day was a low scoring contest. Dark Horse had first swings and were not able to score anything in the first two innings. Purple Cobras took advantage and scored four runs in the first two innings to give them an early 4-0 lead. Ty Allen had his second home run of the day, a three-run shot and Brandon Roman added an RBI sac fly as Purple Cobras lead 4-0 after the 2nd. Dark Horse got on the board in top of the 3rd scoring two runs on a fielder’s choice by Mike Suda and an RBI single by Pete Burns. Purple Cobras were held scoreless in the 3rd and 4th and Dark Horse was able to tie the game in the 4th on an RBI single by Jim Walker and an RBI sac fly by Shawn Dunn. Dark Horse would not score in the top of the 5th and Purple Cobras retook the lead 6-4 scoring two runs on two RBI sac flies by Jordan Roman and Coates. Dark Horse remained scoreless in the 6th and Purple Cobras were able to add some insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th on a two-run RBI single by Dan Roman to make the score 8-4 Purple Cobras heading into the 7th. Dark Horse went down in order in the top of the 7th and giving Purple Cobras their second win on the day. Purple Cobras wins a close one 8-4.
