B East Week 4 April 28th

Game 1

Birds of War VS Balls Deep


Birds of Ware starts off week 4 with a strong first inning. They jump out to a lead off a John Laino 2 RBI double and Chris Day RBI single and lead 4-0 after one. They add one in the top of the second off an RBI double from Jay Cowan to extend the lead to 5-0. Balls Deep gets one back in the bottom of the second off a sac fly from Josh Carl. Scoring resumes in the 4th with Birds of War pouring it on, scoring 9 off RBI singles from Chris Day, Sonny Rey, Austin Devlin, and Justin Kneebone and RBI doubles from Jay Cowan and Matt Jacobson. Balls Deep gets one back in the bottom of the fourth, again by Josh Carl with an RBI double. The fifth sees Birds of War add two more, with both coming from a Jay Cowan sac fly. Balls Deep tries to keep it interesting with back-to-back RBIs from a Ken Huber double and another Josh Carl single and Tom Gluck adds another with an RBI double, but we go into the top of the 7th Balls Deep trailing 6-16. Birds of War adds one more with an RBI single from Justin Kneebone and, after a leadoff double from Bob Stanley, Balls Deep goes down 3 in a row to end the game.

Birds of War win 17-6

Player of the Game: Jay Cowan, 2-5, two doubles, 5 RBI’s, 1 run


Game 2

Philly’s Finest VS Dugout Demons


Philly’s Phinest goes down in order and Dugout Demons jumps out to a small lead in the first, scoring two off an error. They add two more in the bottom of the second when Christian Wagner hits a 2 run Home Run to double the lead. Philly’s Phinest gets one back in the bottom of the second off a Mike Rocks Jr fielders’ choice but that is the only run they muster the whole game. Dugout Demons adds one in the fourth with a Pat O’Brian single and 3 in the fifth from a 2 RBI triple from TJ Pergine and sac fly from John Wagner. Dugout Demons defense dominates the game, and they take the win.

Player of the Game: Christian Wagner, 2-4, single, Home Run, 2 RBI’s, 1 run

Game 3

Stiff Sox VS Web Gems


Web Gems starts hot with a 2 RBI triple from Mike Touey followed by an RBI double from Ryan Delong and RBI single from Steve Wilson. Stiff Sox jumps out to a hot start as well in the first, with a Tom Gallagher 3 Run Home Run and an RBI from Jon Derr. Stiff Socks come out flat in the second and Web Gems jumps on it, scoring 9 with contributions from an RBI single from Ryan Legeckas, sac fly from Eric Adiletto, RBI single from Nick Mackell, 2 RBI single from Mike Touey and bases clearing 3 RBI triple from John Uccelletti. Stiff Socks gets two in the third from a double from Brian DeLucas but he breaks the golden rule and makes the third out at third trying to turn a double into a triple. Web Gems extends the lead with four in the 3rd with 4 RBI singles from Cole Browne, Arik Fenton, Nick Mackell, and Mike Touey. Stiff Socks can’t add any and Web Gems adds two more, with another triple from John Uccelletti for one RBI and a sac fly from Justin Perloff to bring him in. Stiff Socks do everything they can to rally and are able to score 7 in the top of the fifth, with a 2 RBI single from Tom Gallagher, RBI single from Brian DeLucas, and 3 run Home Run from John Derr. They bring it within 6 and Web Gems can’t extend in the 5th. Stiff Sox can’t get another rally going and go down 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th and Web Gems add two insurance runs with RBI singles from Steve Wilson and Eric Wrenn. Stiff Sox get one in the 7th off an RBI single from Nick Purshock but can’t get any more and fall to Web Gems.

Web Gems wins 21-14

Game 4

Web Gems VS WildFire

Web Gems will try to take both of a double header and get one in the first as Mike Touey stays hot with an RBI single. WildFire gets it back in the bottom of the first with an RBI triple from Phil Purchase. Web Gems get two more in the top of the second with an RBI double from Steve Wilson and Eric Adiletto scoring on an error. Wildfire keeps the back and forth going with 4 of their own in the bottom of the second, with a 2 RBI single from Mark Maria and Jim Nottingham scoring on a fielder’s choice from Pat Coyne. Web Gems ties it back up in the top of the 3rd with a Sac Fly from Arik Fenton to score Mike Touey after his leadoff triple, but the lead doesn’t last long. Wild Fire scores 3 in the bottom of the third to take the lead back, with RBI singles from Pat McKeever, Mark Maria, and Phil Purchase. The top of the fourth sees yet another tie as Web Gems score 4 with RBIs from a Steve Wilson single, John Uccelletti double, Mike Touey sac fly, and Arik Fenton single. Once again, Wildfire breaks the tie with two in the bottom off a 2 RBI single from Pay McKeever. The top of the fifth sees Web Gems take the lead yet again, with 4 runs coming from RBI singles from Cole Browne, Ryan Legeckas, and Mike Touey. WildFire ties it back up with a 2 run Home Run off the bat of Jim Nottingham and we go into the 6th tied. Web Gems takes the lead back with rbi singles from Ryan Legackas and John Uccelletti and for the first inning of the game Wildfire are held scoreless. The top of the seventh sees Web Gems open it up, with RBI singles from Ryan Delong, Eric Wrenn, Joey Greiner, and John Uccelletti as well as an RBI double from Steve Wilson. They score 7 to extend the lead to 21-12 and WildFire cant create a rally and fall.
