Game 1: Dark Horse vs Wire 2 Wire

Wire 2 Wire came out strong in the top of the first scoring 8 runs off of a two run RBI double by Tom Signore, RBI singles by Gene Walczak, Derek Acker, Ben Vitelli, Matt Godfrey and Alex Metz. Dark Horse was able to answer back with two runs of their own on two RBI singles by Mike Suda and Shawn Dunn to bring the score to 8-2 Wire 2 Wire after the 1st. Dark Horse would struggle to score runs the rest of the game and remained scoreless the next four innings. Wire 2 Wire would extend their lead scoring three runs in the top of the 3rd on two RBI doubles by Godfrey and Metz. They would add one more run on an error in the top of the 4th as the score stood 12-2 going into the 6th. Wire 2 Wire would continue scoring in the top of the 6th scoring two runs on an RBI sac fly by Adrian Reyes and an RBI single by Signore to put Dark Horse in danger of being run ruled if they did not score a few in the bottom half of the 6th. Dark Horse was able to do just that and scored three runs on two RBI sac flies by Dunn and Pete Burns and an RBI single by Dave Ketterlinus to cut their deficit to 9 runs going into the 7th. Both teams would go down quickly in the 7th and Wire 2 Wire secured the win over Dark Horse 14-5.

Game 2: Pitch Please vs Purple Cobras

Purple Cobras wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as the scored two in the top of the 1st on a two-run homer by Bill Brancato. Pitch Please answered right back and evened the score on an error and an RBI single by Bill Larkin. Both teams went cold in the 2nd and did not score. Purple Cobras opened the game up in the top of the 3rd scoring seven runs on RBI singles by Bill Brancato, Steve Gardner and Zack Griffin and a three-run homer by CJ Brancato to give them a comfortable 9-2 lead. Pitch Please would keep the game close scoring four runs on RBI singles by Mike McLaverty and Mark Stauffer and an RBI double by John Beard to make the score 9-6 after the 3rd. Purple Cobras went down in order in the 4th. This opened the door for Pitch Please and they scored three runs on a two run RBI triple by Pete Donnelly and an RBI single by Mike Sheridan to tie the game at 9 after the 4th. Purple Cobras regained the lead in the top of the 5th scoring four runs on an RBI sac fly by Jordan Roman, RBI single by CJ Brancato and a fielder’s choice by Tom Friedman. Pitch Please failed to score in the bottom of the 5th. Purple Cobras added two more runs in the top of the 6th on a two-run RBI single by Gardner. Pitch Please scored two of their own in the bottom of the 6th on two RBI singles by Mark Stauffer and Mike Oravitz leaving the score at 15-11 Purple Cobras going into the final frame. Pitch Please kept Purple Cobras off the scoreboard in the top of the 7th and keeping the deficit at four runs down to their final three outs. After a quick first two outs, Pitch Please was able to string together a few singles and an RBI single by Sheridan to pull within three runs, but Purple Cobras were able to escape the threat and end the game. Purple Cobras wins a close one 15-12 over Pitch Please.

Game 3: Pitch Please vs Backyard Bombers

Game 3 would be a high scoring affair from the start as runs were scored in every inning. Backyard Bombers had first at bats and scored three runs on an RBI double James Pello and two RBI sac flies by Jake Boehm and Jed Fizzano. Pitch Please batted around in the bottom of the 1st scoring six runs on RBI singles by Joe Kindt, Bill Larkin, Pete Donnelly, Mike McLaverty and Mark Stauffer to give them a 6-3 lead after the first. Backyard Bombers almost batted around in the top of the 2nd and scored seven runs to take the lead on RBI singles by Jaysen McConnell, Pello, Shawn Williams, and Ian Houser and RBI doubles by Gabe McCaughn and Boehm. Pitch Please scored three of their own in the bottom of the 2nd on RBI singles by Joe Weeks and McLaverty and an RBI fielder’s choice by Mike Sheridan to make the score 10-9 Backyard Bombers heading into the 3rd. Backyard Bombers would score three runs in the 3rd off RBI singles by Ryan Cannon and Ryan Williams and an RBI sac fly by Houser. Pitches Please kept the game close on a two-run homer by Kindt in the bottom of the 3rd to put the score at 13-11 Backyard Bombers after the 3rd. McCaughn had a solo homer in the top of the 4th to push Backyard Bombers lead to three. Pitch Please would take the lead in the bottom of the 4th scoring four runs on RBI singles by Mike Oravitz and Weeks and a two-run RBI double by Kindt to give them a 15-14 lead over Backyard Bombers heading into the 5th. Backyard Bombers would have a big 5th inning as they scored six runs on RBI singles by Houser and McCaughn, a two-run RBI triple by Pello and an RBI fielder’s choice by Williams to give them a five-run lead. Kindt would continue to produce and hit a grand slam for Pitch Please in the bottom of the 5th to pull to within one as Backyard Bombers lead 20-19 heading into the 6th. Backyard Bombers added one run off an RBI sac fly by Jake Eskolsky to give them a 21-19 heading into the bottom of the 6th and the last at bats for Pitch Please due to time limit. Pete Donnelly led off the inning with a solo homer to cut the deficit to one run. John Beard would then hit an RBI double to tie the game and put the winning run at second. A flyout would end the inning as well as the game. Backyard Bombers ties Pitch Please 21-21 in a high scoring shootout.

Game 4: The Swingers vs One Hit Wonders

One Hit Wonders scored two runs in the first on RBI singles by Rob Gisondi and Mike Trivino. Swingers answered back and went on top scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI double by Jack Larini, a homerun by Chris Clewell and RBI sac flies by Brian Close and Zach Nikander to put the score at 5-2 Swingers. One Hit Wonders tied the score in top of the second scoring three runs on RBI singles by Sean Strauss and Bill Groff and an RBI fielder’s choice by Jesse Grasso. The Swingers would regain the lead in the bottom of the 2nd scoring three runs of their own on a three-run homer by Matt Close to give themselves an 8-5 lead after the 2nd. Both teams were scoreless in the 3rd inning. One Hit Wonders could not get anything going in the 4th and their score stayed at 5 runs. The Swingers would extend their lead by scoring 3 more runs on an RBI double by Matt Close and a two-run RBI single by Larini to go up 11-5 after four. One Hit Wonders would get back into the game in the top of the 5th scoring runs on an error and homeruns by Jimmy Cooker and Gisondi to pull within one run. They held The Swingers scoreless in the bottom half of the 5th to keep their deficit at one run heading into the 6th. One Hit Wonders would take the lead in the 6th inning scoring six runs on RBI doubles by Cooker and Jared Owens and RBI singles by Trivino and Tom O’Neil. The Swingers would get one run back in the bottom of the 6th on an RBI single by Nick McClay, but still trailed 16-12 heading into the last inning. One Hit Wonders would add three insurance runs in the 7th on RBI singles by Groff and Gisondi and an RBI double by Andy Springer to give them a seven-run cushion and three outs to get. The Swingers were only able to plate across one run in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI sac fly by Clewell as they fell to One Hit Wonders 19-13.

Game 5: Doc’s Irish Pub vs Pitches Be Trippin

This game would prove the saying “It’s not about how you start, but how you finish.” Pitches Be Trippin would get off to a slow start scoring 0 runs in the first two innings. Doc’s would come out swinging scoring eight runs in the first two innings on RBI singles by Brett Keszcyk, Dylan Brooks and Paul Elliot to give them an 8-0 lead. Pitches Be Trippin came alive in the top of the 3rd inning as their offensive exploded for fifteen runs on RBI singles by Matt Horn, Harry Horn, Anthony Perretti, Bobby Scholley, Paul Abendroth, Matthew Sheehan and Kevin Launiar as well as a three-run homer by Scholley. Doc’s would score one run in the bottom of the 3rd on a homerun by Austin Kooker to bring the score to 15-9 Pitches Be Trippin. Pitches Be Trippin would add two more runs in the top of the 4th on an RBI double by CJ McCaffrey and an RBI single by Dave McCaughey. Doc’s would score two of their own in the bottom of the 4th on an error and an RBI double by Kooker but were still trailing 17-11 as the teams entered the 5th. Pitches Be Trippin kept their foot on the gas and put up another six runs in the top of the 5th on an RBI single by McCaughey and RBI doubles by Abendroth, Launiar and McCaffrey. Doc’s was not able to cut the deficit in the 5th as they plated 0 runs. Score stood at 23-11 heading into the 6th. Pitches Be Trippin added some insurance in the top of the 6th scoring three runs on RBI singles by Perretti and Scholley and an RBI sac fly by Harry Horn to make the score 26-11 and put Doc’s in danger of ending the game by run rule. Doc’s came up in the bottom of the 6th needing six runs to extend the game. RBI singles by Elliot and Joe Stankovics would score 3 runs for Doc’s, but then they would go down in order to end the threat of a comeback and the game. Pitches Be Trippin’s big offense late powers by Doc’s Irish Pub 26-14.
