Game 1: Kings Corner vs Dingers
Dingers get squat in the 1st but bat around in the 2nd to score 7. Bayley Jaminis triples and knocks in 3 himself. Dingers go cold in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, but then plate 3 in the 6th. Ryan Mantone doubles. They'll get one more in the top of the 7th. Kings Corner scores 3 in the 1st, with Sean Murphy banging out a homer and Jarred Gardner doubling. 4 more cross in the 2nd. CJ Snyder doubles. 1 scores in the 3rd and none in the 4th. Bill Brancato doubles and Mike Capacchione triples in the 5th and Kings Corner adds 3 more runs. They'll add 3 more in the 6th and take the win, 14-11.
Game 2: Wire2Wire Sports Podcast vs Moonlight Mashers
Wire2Wire gets 4 across in the 1st with Brian Dart homering. 4 more cross in the 3rd when Dart triples and Alex Freeman homers. 5 more runs score in the 4th with Dart doubling and both Freeman and Jim Chapman tripling. Tim Frei triples in the 5th and Wire2Wire score 3 more. Moonlight Mashers get to work and go down 1-2-3 in the 1st, but then score 1 in the 2nd. They'll get 2 more hits in the next 3 innings, and this game is over early with a 16-1 Wire2Wire win.
Game 3: Wire2Wire Sports Podcast vs Beers
Wire2Wire are a little sluggish in the 1st 3 innings, scoring just 2 runs. They wake up in the 4th, however, and plate 6. 4 more cross in the 5th with Alex Freeman doubling. Will 12 runs be enough to take the win? Beers hope not. They get one in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd with Jose Sanchez homering. 2 more cross in the 3rd when Scott Runzer triples. 2 more runs score when Evan Grzymkowski homers in the 4th. Beers cut Wire2Wire's lead in the 6th to 12-8, and then in the bottom of the 7th, needing 4 to tie and 5 to win, they only get one run across. Wire2Wire wins, 12-9.
Game 4: Beers vs Philly Junk
Beers get a leadoff double from Ryan Maley but leave him stranded in the 1st. Connor MacFarlane doubles and Beers scores 2 in the 2nd. 6 more cross in the 4th. Kelly Adams and Scott Runzer both double. 1 more run scores in the 5th. Beers will get 5 runs in the 6th with Maley doubling again along with Jose Sanchez. Philly Junk Leads of the bottom of the 1st with a Pat Kelley double and a Tom Koelzer homerun. Kelley homers in the 3rd, tying the season record of 18 homer runs in one season, set by Jarred Gardner way back in 2009. Will he break the record with 3 more at bats to go? Read on.... Tom Ivers doubles in the 4th on the way to Philly Junk scoring 3 more. They go nuts in the 5th, batting 15 men and scoring 11. Jason Ashworth homers, Mike Bitterlich homers, Tom Koezler homers, Tom Ivers and Ryan Habel both double and Cody Runner triples. Tyler Gower doubles in the 6th and Philly Junk scores 3 more, winning the game 19-14.
What about Pat Kelley and the quest to top Gardner's homerun record??? Well, Pat had a monster 5th inning after his record tying homerun, and, along with a triple, smashed his record breaking 19th homer of the season for a new Men's League Single Season record! And, if my calculations are correct, he obliterated the single season slugging percentage by 183 points at 2813, topping Kyle Rossi's 2630 in 2024. Congrats to Pat!
