Regular Season Finale - B East - June 6th

Post by latincontrol »

Sunday Coed B East

The regular season finale arrived and there were multiple teams vying for playoff seeding while decided the scorching temperature was just too much to deal with. Some played, others did not. Either way, results are in. Let’s recap Week 6!

From Lukens: Game One – Team Hunt v. Hit & Run

Hit and Run absolutely destroyed Team Hunt. The Hunt crew were only able to manage ONE hit for the entire ball game. Doug Meehan singled in the first inning while Dawn Cardinal drew a walk in the 3rd. But that was it. Literally no offense to speak about.
H&R on the other hand, came to work. Brian Randazzo homered in the first inning while he then highlighted the 12-run 2nd inning with a 2-run double. Renee Greene had two hits in the breakout inning, both singles and she drove in 2. Brian hit his third extra base hit in the 4th with a double which drove in another run. He finished with 3 hits, 3 runs scored and 5 rbi. H&R dominated, 20-0.

Game Two: Gwynedd Manufacturing II v. Gwynedd Manufacturing I

The Gwynn II crew got started in the first inning with 2 runs after Paul Domheim singled in a run and Gavin Kauffman drove in another with a fielders choice. In the 3rd, Zane Saranger led off with a triple and later scored on Chris Smith’s rbi single. Chris drove in his teams 5th run in the 7th with a double, scoring Zane who singled to lead off the frame. Five runs usually isn’t enough to win a softball game, but for this game, it was enough to compete.

The Gwynn I squad also got going in the first. Chuck Mastrangelo doubled in a run scoring Jess Rumey who had reached base on a fielders choice. Andrew Yaskowski tripled and scored on Caleb Weldon’s sac fly in the 2nd inning and Scott Flowers took advantage of some fielding miscues doubling home a run in the 5th inning to cap a 3-run effort. Heading into the home half of the 7th, Roberto Luciano led off by hitting a single and moving to 2nd on Jim Snyder’s single. With 2 runners on and no outs, sub Kevin Ney came through with yet another single in the inning to score Roberto and snatch a walk-off win for the Gwynn I team. They pulled this one off, 6-5. They obtain bragging rights against their rivals. LOL.

Game Three: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Gwynedd Manufacturing I

Looking to keep the momentum going on this steamy afternoon, the Gwyn Crew may have been a little ‘burned’ out. No pun intended. They would not score until the 3rd when Jess Runney singled home a run. Kayla Diamond singled home another run in the 4th and Jim Webb hit a solo shot in the 5th. While 6 runs were enough to win the first of their twin-bill, scoring 3 runs in this one would absolutely not be enough.
Mike’s Bar & Grill exploded for 20 runs. Tom Koelzer Sr. went 4-4 out of the lead off spot which included 4 runs scored and 2 rbi. Tom needed just a HR to hit for the cycle. John Magarity drove in 5 runs on 3 hits, Tim Hilferty drove in 5 runs on 3 hits, Matt Asterito had 4 hits which included a 3-run homer in the 3rd and Kate Hitchmer reached base on all 3 at-bats while scoring two times. Mike’s easy winners in this one, 20-3.

We now switch over to Cedar Hill. Just one game to recap as teams scheduled here on this Sunday afternoon were no-shows.
Game One: Bottom Pitches v. Slap-A-Pitch

Bottom Pitches got rolling early in this game when they pushed 4 runs across in just the first inning. Tommy Watkins had a double while Casey Gordon and Leah Andrews both drove in a run. But the issue for BP was, they scored no other runs the rest of the way. Managing 9 hits the rest of the game, they were kept off the scoreboard and held to just those 4 runs.
Slap-A-Pitch on the other hand, started with 2 runs in the first inning when Matt Milkowich and Katerine James both drove in a run. Kevin Riffel singled home 2 runs in the 2nd, Alberto Santiago smashed a 3-run homer in the 3rd and Harrison Miller had an rbi groundout in the 4th inning. SAP squad scored 11 and won by 7.

Game Two between Keller Williams Doylestown and Bottom Pitches was a forfeit victory for BP.

Game Three between Keller Williams Doylestown and Vikings was also a forfeit victory for the Vikings.

So on to next week where the payoffs are finally here and all that we have recapped all season long will mean nothing. Undefeated teams or teams which posted nice records and players who had a nice season offensively will be for naught if they can’t bring that same heat for the post-season.
Good luck to all teams playing which made the playoffs.
