Week 3 - June 29th

Post by latincontrol »

Game One: Wire 2 Wire v. King’s Corner

The Wire crew got an early start by pushing 5 runs across in the first inning. Bill Shallcross doubled and scored and Greg Guarino walked with the bases loaded to generate the rbi. Sean Butrica later singled home another run helping the team score 9 runs.
King’s Men got 2-run homers from John Erb, Keith Crowell & Sean Nonemacher. Nonny also had a bases clearing single in the 6th as the King’s Men had 23 runs for the game. Keith finished with a 4-4 stat line which included 3 runs scored and 3 rbi. King’s Corner easy winners.

Game Two: HG Coal Fire Pizza v. Beers

The Fire Boys had a very nice start to the game as they pushed 7 runs across. Highlighting the inning was Beers’ inability to throw strikes as the Pizza guys got consecutive rbi walks from Matt Franheiser, Matt Messina, Tyler Cohen and Adam Bugashinski. Mark Kennedy had a 2-run single in the inning and later added a 2-run homer in the 3rd.
Homers by Scott Runizer (2-R HR in 1st) and Josh Goldberg (3-R HR in the 3rd) helped keep the game very close. Ryan Maley added a triple in the 6th which pushed across two more runs. This brought their run total to 12 but fell shot by ONE as HG Coal hung on for the win.

Game Three: Dingers v. Team Horsham

Dingers scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning courtesy of three consecutive errors to start the inning. In the 4th, doubles by Mike Casbar and Connor O’Keefe helped plate 3 more runs. Brandon Walked singled home a run in the 7th as the team finished with 7.
Issue was, the game was technically over in the 2nd inning after Horsham exploded for 10 runs. Mike Crompter hit a 2-run homer and Zach Prendergast capped the inning with a 3-run shot. In the 3rd, Kevin Smith doubled in 2 of the team’s 5 runs and Zach went yard again in the 4th…this time a 2-run bomb. For good measure, Zach doubled home the teams 23rd run in the 5th inning ending the game on the mercy rule, walk off style. Zach finished with 6 rbi.

Game Four: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Dookie Brewster

Mike’s finished with 2 runs on 4 hits. That’s it.
Dookie exploded for 15 runs in the FIRST inning alone. Of the teams 13 hits in the inning, 11 were singles. A slow torturous execution of offense to demoralize any defense. James McLaughlin hit his 2nd double of the game in the 3rd to drive in 2 more runs and Jarred Gardner made sure no one stayed past their curfew by smashing a 3-run homer in the 4th to activate the 2nd walk-off mercy rule game of the night. Only this one was worse, Dookie handing Mike’s a 23-0 beatdown.
