B North 8/8

Summer Heats up in the North as we get a revenge game from the Spring championship, as well as some hardcore steel cage matches between the best the North has to offer.

Game 1: Wire2Wire v Dirty Dozen

The revenge game. Feared by many, as the loser of the last meeting brings some extra juice to the battle for softball glory. For Dirty Dozen, today seemed like the perfect time for that, but as I have learned, they prefer to show up with less than a full roster and get super subs. Sometimes that works out, sometimes it bites you… today was a day being short bit them as this game was almost all Wire2Wire. Dirty Dozen hammered home 4 runs across 6 innings spearheaded by a 2 RBI single from Sean Taylor in the 5th inning and a Ross Anderson RBI double in the 6th. Wire2Wire defended their honor as they roped the Trump Stote all over the yard to the tune of 19 runs. Greg Guarano had a monster day out of the leadoff spot going 4 for 4 with a single double triple and walk for the poor mans cycle. Jacob McDevitt went 4 for 5 and missed his cycle by a double as he smoked a homer, triple and two singles. All in all, every batter in the lineup (with the exception of the sub) registered at least two hits in this schlacking.

Final score: W2W 19 - DD 4

Game 2: The Birdgang v One Hit Wonders

The Birdgang has been tremendous in their ascension to the top of B North but they also fall victim to the dreaded “I hope we have 9 guys for this game” Sunday tradition. The 9 boys in green hammered home 15 runs in this one, as The Mclaughlin brothers WENT OFF and the competition for best McDevitt in the division heated up. Jason McLaughlin, one side of the two headed monster went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a homer, and a single. His “better half” James Mclaughlin followed that up with a 4-5 with 3 doubles and 4 runs scored. Completing the middle of the orders dominance, Mike McDevitt lasered the ball around the yard as he went 5 for 5 with a double and 4 singles, scoring 4 runs and plating 2 RBI. One Hit Wonders, a perennial contender in the North, swung the bats as well as they always do as they hammered home a bunch of runs as well. They plated 3 in the first on doubles from Jesse Graso and Andy Springer, 5 in the 4th on singles, walks and another Grasso double, 1 in the 6th on a triple from Billy G. and 4 in the 7th by way of errors and another Grasso double.

FInal Score: Birdgang 15 - Wonders 13

Game 3: One Hit Wonders v Misfits

The Misfits and their high powered offense took the week off.
Final Score: One Hit Wonders 7 - Misfits 0 (Forfeit)

** Bulldogs fell to Pigeon Boyz in a crossover game.
