Friday Men’s - Oct 1, 2021 - Stover

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Cannoneers @ Misfits
The Cannoneers continued their dominance right out of the gate, scoring 9 in the first 2 innings. Jake Engleman and Shawn Hines would score twice each. In the same span, the Misfits would post 3, in part, thanks to a Dan Benner RBI triple. Engleman and Hines would bang homers in the 4th and 6th - putting this one away for the Cannoneers, 20-10.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines - Cannoneers - 4 for 4, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 4 runs scored.

Game Two: Generals @ Cobra Kai
Generally speaking, the game isn’t over until it’s over. It’s started poorly for the Generals as they’d score just one to open the game. The Kai would score 11 in the first 2 innings. Every Kai member would cross the plate in the 2nd inning. But then the Generals would get a series of sparks from Chris Forrester - who would post two 3-run homers and a 2-run homer. A late charge by the Generals made this one interesting, but the Kai escaped with the 17-16 victory.

Player of the Game: Chris Forrester - Generals - 4 for 4, 3 HRs, 9 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: Sons of Pitches @ Dirty Dozen
SofP’s would trickle in a few runs in nearly every inning. Starting with 4 in the 1st. Derrick Benner cleared the bases with a 3-RBI triple. D12 would not be outdone, as they posted a healthy 8 runs in the bottom of the inning - featuring a 2 run shot by Justin O’Brien. But D12 would dry up for a few innings, allowing SofP’s to claw back in it. Tim Glick would homer in the 4th, putting SofP’s in the lead. D12 responds with a series of singles, 2 by Jon Myzak. Myzak would score on both and push the scoreboard back in D12’s favor, 16-12.

Player of the Game: Justin O’Brien - D12 - 3 for 4, HR, 4 RBIs, triple, 2 runs scored.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now it's goodbye... until next week!
