Game One: Sons of Pitches @ Misfits
An exciting opening game featured 39 total runs! SofP’s would score in every inning, but posted 7 in the 5th on a series of singles. Bobby “Baseball” would drive in 2 on his single. The Misfits would also spread runs over many innings, but none bigger than their 4th inning which featured a John Kiefer grand slam. Going into the 7th, it was deadlocked 16-16. SofP’s would get singles from Ray Emhardt, Bob Louderback, Tim Glick and Ken Huber. Keith Bauer doubled in 2 runs, giving SofP’s a 20-16 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, the Misfits got a single from Dan Benner, a 2 run homer by Tim Caldwell, and singles from Travis Ludwig, & Bob Grosch. Joe Schneidinger walked, Chase Ott singled, bringing up Mike Shutt with the bases loaded and 2 outs, down 1 run. SofP’s would close it out here, winning 20-19 and moving on to face the Cannoneers later in the evening.

Player of the Game: Keith Bauer - Sons of Pitches - 3 for 4, BB, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs, 1 double.

Game Two: Cobra Kai @ Dirty Dozen
Cobra Kai was looking for retribution as D12 put it on them just one week earlier. Now with a bid to the finals on the line, would Cobra Kai bounce back? In the first 3 innings, the Kai would see Matty Poust score twice, Tyler Gower go 2 for 2, score twice, and drive in 2 more, and Jay Pane hit a 2-run bomb. All in all, 10 total runs. In the same span, D12 would scratch out 5 runs. Justin O’Brien would score 2 of these 5. The Kai would go dry for 2 innings, opening the door for 5 more D12 runs. The game was tied 10-10 after 5. In the 6th, Jake Haber would drive in Pane with a 2-run homer. The Kai would post 4 runs in the inning and take a 14-10 lead. D12 answered with 3 in the 6th, as Cody Nash drove in 2. The top of 7th featured a single by Poust, double by Pane, and a 3 run blast from Haber. Ryan McGraw answered in the bottom of the 7th with a solo shot, that’s all D12 could muster. Cobra Kai sweeps the legs, defeats Dirty Dozen 17-14.

Player of the Game: Jake Haber - Cobra Kai - 4 for 5 - 2 HRs - 6 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: Sons of Pitches @ Cannoneers
SofP’s earned a 2nd game this evening, but found themselves on the wrong end of an avalanche. SofP’s wouldn’t score a run… which makes winnings quite difficult. Cannoneers did what the Cannoneers do - scoring 16 runs in 4 innings. Shawn Hines would walk and hit 2 homers. Brian Wrigley would hit 3 doubles.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines - Cannoneers - 2 for 2 - BB, 2 HRs - 5 RBIs.
***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now it's goodbye... until next week!
