Friday Men’s - May 13, 2022 - Stover

Game One: Generals @ Cobra Kai
Well, Generally speaking, if your team is shorthanded, and you have to pick up subs, grabbing Shawn Hines and Dan Powell will certainly help. This game was an absolute rock fight, 4-1. The Generals grab the victory, kind of. Hines and Powell accounted for all 4 runs. Scoring 3 and driving in the 4th. The Kai would post only 3 hits…. IN SLOWPITCH UNDERHAND SOFTBALL! And see their lone run come from a solo shot by Sam Plaugher.

Player of the Game: New rule: Any game with only 5 runs scored, player of the game honors are tabled.

Game Two: Sons of Pitches @ Cannoneers
This game certainly would overachieve following the previous slugfest outlined above. Hey, there was offensive production in this game… albeit mostly by one team. SofP’s would have a nice 5th inning, seeing the first 6 batters all hit singles - netting the team 4 runs in the process, totaling 8 runs for the game. But 8 runs wouldn’t be enough to dethrone the champs. The scoresheet is full of colored in diamonds as 22 runs would be tallied in 6 innings of work. Josh Kennedy went 4 for 5, scored 3 times. Shawn Hines did Shawn Hines things… 3 for 3, 1 HR, 4 runs scored, 4 RBIs. Kyle Morrow hit a 3-run shot. Cannoneers roll, 22-8.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines - Cannoneers - 3 for 3, 1 HR, 4 runs scored, 4 RBIs.

Game Three: Dirty Dozen @ Misfits
In the nightcap, D12 would open up a can right from the jump. Jon Myzak, Joe Murray, Justin O’Brien, Kelly Carver, and Andrew Alexander all crossed the plate - and little did they know, this would be enough to win the game. Murray would score 2 more times and O’Brien would go yard in the 7th. All gravy as the Misfits only posted 4 runs - all from the bottom of their lineup.

Player of the Game: Justin O’Brien - D12 - 3 for 5, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
