Philly’s Phinest vs. Swingers

Phinest plate 1 in the top of the 1st, off of three singles, including an RBI single by Billy Aicroth. Swingers answer with 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Two singles, a walk, a 2 RBI double by Brian Close, and a 2 RBI triple from Dion Greene did the damage. Phinest score 2 more in the top of the 2nd, with a Shawn Dunn triple pacing the offense. Swingers go down 1-2-3 in the bottom. Phinest score 2 in the top of the 3rd courtesy of a 2 run HR by Billy Aichroth to take a 5-4 lead. Swingers get 2 back to retake the lead after a leadoff double from Brian Hoover, and a pair of RBI singles. Phinest go down 1-2-3 in the top of the 4th, while Swingers extend their lead to 2 runs with two singles and an error scoring the lone run in the bottom of the 4th. In the top of the 5th, Phinest score 4 runs off of three singles, two walks, and a two run HR by Mike Rocks Sr. to take a 9-7 lead. Swingers score 3 off of three singles, an error, and a bases clearing single by Dion Greene. Phinest tie things up again at 10 runs apiece to start the 6th inning, with a Mike Rocks Jr. RBI single bringing in their lone run. Swingers respond with a 5 run bottom of the 6th, with seven singles doing the damage. Down 15-10 going into the top of the 7th, Philly’s Phinest could only muster 2 more runs from walks and singles. Swingers advance to the semifinals 15-12 final.

Player of the Game: Dion Greene, Swingers. Greene was an RBI machine in the win for the Swingers, going 3-4 with two singles, a triple, and a whopping 7 RBIs.



Dugout Demons vs. Dave and Confused

Dugout Demons score 1 run off four singles to start the top of the 1st; Dave and Confused ties it up after a John Hickman RBI single. Demons score 1 more in the top of the 2nd off their own RBI single from leadoff hitter Ryan Lynn. DC scores 3 in the bottom of the inning off of two walks and two singles, including a two RBI single by Kevin Noone. Demons go down 1-2-3 in the top of the 3rd, and DC responds by blowing the doors open with a 7-run inning. Small ball was the name of the game, as DC mixed 5 walks in with 4 singles, including a 2 RBI single by John Graves. Demons get 2 back in the top of the 4th off of a 2 run HR by John Wagner, cutting the lead to 7. DC goose eggs the bottom of the inning. Demons plate 4 more in the top of the 5th, with 3 singles, an error, and a solo HR by Nate ‘Don’t Call Me Nathan’ Gregory. DC’s bats go quiet again in the bottom of the 5th inning. Demons cut the lead to 2 with an RBI double from Spencer Mitchell being the only offense of the inning. DC quells the comeback attempt, scoring 2 runs via two singles, and a bases clearing double by Carl Ervin. Needing 4 to keep playing, Demons get a leadoff triple by Robert Knoll, an RBI single from Sean Brennan, a double from Nate Gregory, and a two RBI single from Patrick O’Brien. Unfortunately, that’s all they could muster, as Dave and Confused survive and advance, 13-12.

Player of the Game: Nate Gregory, Dugout Demons. Nate was great at the plate, going 4-4 with two singles, a double, a HR, 1 RBI, and 3 Rs in the close loss.



Swingers vs. Wolfpack

Swingers get off to a good start to begin the 1st inning, scoring 3 runs off four singles, including RBI singles by Ben Razzi and David Kretchman. Wolfpack respond by plating 4 in the bottom of the inning, with four singles and a 3-run HR by Mike Bartasavich. Neither team can score in the 2nd inning, and Swingers go down 1-2-3 in the 3rd as well. Wolfpack score 1 via a solo HR from leadoff man Kenny Goodwin in the bottom half of the inning. Swingers leave the bases loaded in the top of the 4th before a K ends the inning. Wolfpack score another 2 runs to make it 7-3 after the 4th inning. Both runs were brought in by a 2 run HR by Mike Bartasavich. Swingers cut the lead to 2, scoring 2 runs off of three singles. Wolfpack’s offense stalls in the bottom of the 5th, unable to manufacture any runs. Swingers start out hot, with back-to-back-to-back singles, paving the way for a 2 RBI groundout by Dion Greene to take an 8-7 lead. Wolfpack get 1 back to tie in the bottom of the 6th, with Kenny Goodwin getting a leadoff triple and an RBI single by Hans Abendroth. Swingers top of the order goes down swinging, failing to produce a run in the 8-8 game. Needing 1 to win, Mike Bartasavich takes a leadoff walk, team captain Colin Leach hits a single, and Harry Horn knocks in the game winning run with a single of his own. Wolfpack advance to the championship in a tight one, 9-8 final.

Player(s) of the Game: Kenny Goodwin and Mike Bartasavich, Wolfpack. It was a good win for Goodwin and Bartasavich, who combined to go 5-5 with 3 HRs, a triple, single, and walk. They also combined for 5 Rs and 6 RBIs.



Dave and Confused vs. Palz Tap House

Dave and Confused plate 1 run off two singles to start the game, including an RBI single by Carl Ervin. Palz responds with 3 runs of their own off of four singles and an error. DC cannot muster a run in the next three innings, while Palz adds another 8 to their total across the same frames. Highlights for Palz include a 3-run HR by Pete Herbert, a 2-run HR by Justin Gutierrez, a solo HR by Jordan Cohen, six singles, and a double by Tom Jacob. Dave and Confused score 1 in the 5th via a Kevin Noone triple. Palz add 4 more in the bottom half of the inning, courtesy of four singles, and back-to-back doubles by Jordan Cohen and Brian Graham. DC goes down 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th inning, and Palz gets 2 runs by way of a solo HR from Tom Jacob and an RBI single from Bob Jacob. Palz run rule their way into the championship with a 17-2 win.

Player of the Game: Jordan Cohen, Palz. Cohen went 4-4 with two singles, a double, a solo HR, and 4 Rs in the win.
