How Did We Get Here?

Wolfpack finished the season a perfect 8-0, with a +62-run differential. As the #1 seed, they beat #4 seed Swingers 13-12 in a nail-biting semifinal matchup.

Palz Tap House went 7-1, with their only blemish being a 16-7 loss to Wolfpack. In that matchup, Palz were missing the Jacob brothers, Tom and Bob, played with 8 men, and an automatic out. On the season, they had a +31-run differential. As the #2 seed, they pasted #3 seed Dave and Confused in their semifinal matchup, 17-2.

Game One

Palz Tap House vs. Wolfpack

Palz draws first blood by scoring 1 run off a walk and two singles to start the top of the 1st. Wolfpack blank the bottom of the inning. A leadoff triple by Ryan Nakonieczny, and subsequent sac fly by Louie Knoebel plate 1 more for Palz. Wolfpack tie it up at 2 in the bottom of the 2nd inning, with three singles and an RBI groundout kickstarting the offense. Neither team scores in the 3rd, with Palz leaving one stranded and Wolfpack leaving two stranded. Both squads put up 1 in the 4th, with Palz getting a leadoff double from Alex Freeman and an RBI single from Tom Jacob. Wolfpack get 1 run off of two singles, including an RBI single from David Barth. Both teams go scoreless again in the 5th, with Palz leaving two men on and Wolfpack going down 1-2-3. Palz gets 1 more run to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the 6th, with an Alex Freeman double, and an RBI single from Pete Herbert. Wolfpack tie it back up in the bottom of the inning, getting an RBI from an Anthony Perretti triple (who was unfortunately thrown out at home). Tied 4-4 going into the final inning, Palz gets 2 singles by the Jacob bros, Tom and Bob, and an RBI triple from Louie Knoebel. Needing 2 to win, Kenny Goodwin and Hans Abendorth get on via singles, but two flyouts mixed in plus a fielder’s choice end the game. Palz take Game One in a defensive battle, 5-4 final.

Game Two

Wolfpack vs. Palz Tap House

Wolfpack try to get out to an early lead, plating 3 runs in the 1st inning off of three singles, a walk, and a sac fly. Palz respond with 2 of their own, with three singles, a sac fly, and a double from Alex Freeman. Neither team can score a run in the 2nd or 3rd inning, with Wolfpack leaving 3 men on, and Palz leaving only 1, and going down 1-2-3 in the 3rd. Wolfpack scores 1 off of four singles in the top of the 4th to extend their lead to 4-2. Palz put their foot on the gas and score 4 in the bottom of the inning in response, with 5 singles and a 2 run HR by Tom Jacob doing the damage. Neither team could muster a run in the 5th inning, and Wolfpack left another 2 men on in the 6th. Palz tacked on 2 insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th, with a double from Tom Jacob, followed by a 2 run HR from Ryan Nakonieczny extending the lead. Needing 4 to tie, Wolfpack go down swinging 1-2-3 to end the 7th. Palz finish off the sweep, with an 8-4 win, and are your 2022 B East Champions!

Championship MVP: Tom Jacob, Palz. Honorable mention to Ryan Nakonieczny as well, but Tom Jacob went 5-6 in the two wins with three singles, a double, a HR, 4 RBIs and 2 Rs.
