Friday Men’s - Aug 19, 2022

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Moxon’s Cartel @ Dirty Dozen
The Cartel would only get 9 players to show up this week, which would stress them defensively. The offense would be led by the top of the lineup, tallying 11 of the Cartel’s 13 runs for the night. Jay Pane, Jon Motts, and CJ Motts would each hit 2-run homers. D12 would see John Aiken hit a solo homer, but not much else was going on for them offensively. Cartel wins 13 - 6.

Player of the Game: Jay Pane - Moxon’s Cartel, 4 for 4, 1 HR, 4 runs scored, 2 RBIs, 1 BB, 1 2B.

Game Two: Misfits @ Cannoneers
The Misfits would draw an amazing 20 walks. This would help them post 20 runs. John Kiefer added a 2-run homer and Mo Rodriguez a 2-run triple. The Cannoneers were hot out of the wrapper, scoring 8 in the first. Due to time, this one would only go 6, which is unfortuante in a close game like this one. The Cannoneers got homers from Mike Banes, Wilson Miller, and Jake Engleman, but it wasn’t enough as they only tallied 19. Misfits down the Cannoneers 20 - 19.

Player of the Game: Mo Rodriguez, Misfits, 2 for 2, 1 3B, 3 BB, 4 runs scored, 4 RBIs

Game Three: Cobra Kai @ Generals
The Kai got a monster game from their offense - posting 28 total runs. Jake Haber homered and ROb Tomkinson hit 2. Ethan Shoemaker would grab 2 walks and 4 singles. Generally speaking, if you give up 28 runs, you aren’t winning many softball games. The Generals only mustered 10 runs, leaving them 18 runs short.

Player of the Game: Rob Tomkinson, Cobra Kai, 4 for 4, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 1 2B

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
