Friday Men’s - Sep 16, 2022

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Sons of Pitches @ Cannoneers
SofP’s score 2 in four innings. Yes, 2 runs in 4 innings. Tim Gluck hammered a solo shot and Josh Carl drove in Tim Frei for the lone additional run. The reigning champs crank out 22 runs in 4 with an array of singles and doubles. Shawn Hines hit the lone homer for the Cannoneers in the 3rd. Wilson Miller would score 4 times.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines, Cannoneers, 4 for 4, 1 HR, 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored, 1 2B.

Game Two: Generals @ Dirty Dozen
This one would go the distance. 7 long innings of scrappy softball. But generally speaking, 1 run won’t win many Friday nights at Stover Park. Jon Fink’s solo shot was the only run for the away squad. D12’s 13 runs were enough to hold off the scrappy Generals. John Aiken scored twice, along with Cody Nash, and Anthony Izzi. Jordan Cook posted a 2-run homer along with his 3 runs scored. Justin O’Brien’s 3-run homer in the first set the tone for a productive night for the Dozen.

Player of the Game: Jordan Cook, Dirty Dozen, 3 for 4, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: Cobra Kai @ Misfits
The Kai would start slow, scoring only 4 through 5 innings. But an 8-run 6th made this one interesting. The Kai got a long, deep shot from Donnie Squartino. This followed long balls from Rob Tomkinson and Tyler Gower. But the ‘Fits answered all night long. Matty Bookheimer was on base all game long, scoring 3 runs. Jose Rodriguez hit 3 doubles and Matt Friend and Corey Wambold crossed the plate 3 times each.

Player of the Game: Matt Friend, Misfits, 3 for 3, 3 runs scored, 1 3B, 3 RBIs.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
