Friday Men’s - Sep 30, 2022

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Generals @ Misfits
Generally speaking, allowing 21 runs doesn’t lend itself to many victories. Lead-off, Dylan Patterson would score twice for the Generals, but that would be 40% of the team’s output. Meanwhile, The Misfits would have a 9-run inning and a 7-run inning. Mo Rodriguez and John Keifer each would score 3 times, and combined for 6 RBIs. Triples by Mike Shutt, Tim Caldwell, Matt Friend, and Rodriguez helped tally 21 total runs in the win.

Player of the Game: John Keifer, Misfits, 4 for 4, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Two: Cannoneers @ Cobra Kai
The reigning, defending, champions of the world posted 14 runs on the night. Shawn Hines would tally 5 of those in his first 2 at-bats - one 2-run homer and one 3-run homer. Wilson Miller chipped in with 3 runs scored. The Kai rode the hot bat of Donnie Squartino. The Don’s 2 homers coupled with a single and a walk, allowed Squartino to cross the plate 4 times. Tyler Gower’s power was on display after his 6-inning long ball. Ultimately, the Kai’s 9 runs weren’t enough.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines, Cannoneers, 3 for 4, 2 HR, 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: Dirty Dozen @ Sons of Pitches
D12 would spread 15 runs over 6 innings. Andrew Alexander’s 5th inning 3-run dinger helped put D12 over SofP’s. Justin O’Brien would hit 2 doubles and Anthony Izzi would collect 4 singles. SofP’s struggled to string together much offense. Tim Gluck, Derek Benner, and Tim Frei would each score twice. Frei would have a 4 for 4 night - but his efforts weren’t enough to take down the mighty Dozen.

Player of the Game: Anthony Izzi, D12, 5 for 5, 4 runs scored, 2 RBIs.

***Shout out to scorekeepers, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
