Game One: Misfits @ Cannoneers
The ‘Fits came out hot out of the wrapper. Matt Bookheimer, Matt Friend, Jose Rodriguez, John Keifer, and JB Jordan all scored in the first inning - after each of them singled. The Cannoneers would go scoreless for the first 2 innings. With the pressure mounting, the reigning champs would rally. Mike Gallo and Tom Banes both hit a 3-run homer. 7 other Cannoneers would walk and score a run. The Misfits continued to battle scoring on a series of singles and solo homers by JB Jordan and Jose Rodriguez. Heading into the 7th, the champs held a 15-10 lead. John Keifer found himself at the plate, bases loaded, and one out. Keifer blasted a grand slam, putting the ‘Fits within 1.Dan Benner flied to RC, Tim Caldwell singled, and Corey Wambold hit into a FC to end game one. Cannoneers win, 15-14.

Game Two: Cannoneers @ Misfits
Game 2’s statline is a strange one. First, the Cannoneers… 7 runs on 16 hits, no HRs, and 3 strikeouts. No Cannoneers crossed the plate more than once. No Cannoneer drove in more than one run. The Misfits would score only in the first 2 innings, then nearly get no-hit the rest of the game. Dan Benner’s single in the 6th was the only hit in innings 3 through 6. Matt Bookheimer, Randy Helsman and Mo Rodriguez each would score twice - helping them take game 2, 9-7.

Game Three: Misfits @ Cannoneers
Tim Caldwell scored 2 runs for the Misfits out of the 10 spot in the lineup. But those would be the only runs crossing the plate for the Misfits in game 3. The champs would be very “champy” posting 13 runs. Josh Kennedy scored 3 times, as did Shawn Hines. Jake Engleman hit a homer, as did Vinnie. Brian Wrigley’s 3 run bomb in the 3rd put this one away. Cannoneers win the Friday night mens woodbat championship of the world with a 13-2 game 3 win.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Stephanie. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
