Hatfield 8-21-2023 - Playoffs

Post by Rider14 »

Game #1 – The Maize vs. The Runs

The first game to the B Championship will get rolling with a four run first inning from Maize. Matt Burgenhagen starts the scoring with an RBI double, followed by a two run double from Aaron Worthington. Keith Bellinger also adds an RBI single in the inning. Runs would get one run back on an Erik Cusano solo bomb. Maize grab a run in each of the second and third innings thanks to a RBI single from Tom Egitto and sac fly from Wil Dos. Runs will fight back in the middle part of this game grabbing three runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. Meg Bauer had a big two run single while Matt Kovaleski had a big two run single as well. Maize fight back and grab the lead again in the fifth inning getting a big three run bomb off the bat of Gary Kleinschmidt. Runs would grab one run back in the sixth on a sac fly from Bobby Ridenour, but that is all they would get in this one and fall just short. Maize will win this game and move on to face Jive Turkey’s in the next round. Maize wins 10-8.

Player of the Game:
Gary Kleinschmidt (The Maize) – 3/4, 2 2B’s, HR, 4 RBI’s

Game #2 – The Maize vs. Jive Turkeys

Maize look to pick up where they left off from the prior game and do so with a three run bomb from Kleinschmidt. Turkey’s grab four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Casper Komonchak smashes a three run bomb and Patrick Gallagher knocks in a run on a fielder’s choice. Both teams can’t push any across before Maize take the lead with a five run third. Aaron Worthington smashes a grand slam in the inning. Turkey’s will take the lead in the third again with six runs. Kolten Wonder and Andrew Fantaskey both have RBI doubles as well as Gallagher. Turkey’s look to take control in the fourth and fifth with eight total runs as they eye up that championship game. Gallagher and Maggie Wunder have back to back RBI singles, while Casper smashes a solo bomb. Gallagher will add a two run double later in the game as they will take care of business and advance to the chip next week.

Player of the Game:
Casper Komanchakie (Turkey’s) – 5/5, 3B, 2 HR’s, 5 RBI’s
