Post by JP40 »

Game One: Yard @ American Legion
The reigning, defending champs - American Legion - gave up an early run to the Yard’s Jose Rodriguez, as he hit a solo shot in the first inning. Legion responded with 3 runs of their own on a series of singles and doubles. The Yard would be held scoreless for 4 innings while American Legion stacked up more runs. Shawn Hines hit a 3-run homer, Jake Engleman drove in 2 with a double, and Brian Wrigley crossed home plate 3 times. The Yard would string together a few runs, but it wouldn’t be enough. Legion tak game one, 9 - 4.

Game Two: American Legion @ The Yard
Game two started with each team posting 2 runs. Runs would be traded back and forth throughout the game. Brian Wrigley would hit a solo homer, and score 2 runs. Dan Powell would score 3 times, and Jake Engleman would go 3 for 3 with a walk, scoring twice. The Yard had 2-run homers from both John Kiefer and Mike Koelzer. Koelzer would also go perfect on the night, 4 for 4, scoring after each at-bat. This game would end 11-8, American Legion. And still… reigning, defending, champions of the world - American Legion.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of S. Carter, “A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.”
