Friday Men’s - Sep 22, 2023

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Generals @ American Legion
The Generals were feisty tonight, scoring 7 runs on a series of singles - in the third inning. Every batter in the lineup would single within the inning. Adam Gingerrick would score twice and drive in 2 more. After trailing much of the game, Legion would rally in the bottom of the 7th, scoring 4, and sneaking out an 11-10 victory. Brian Wrigley would hit the lone homer of the game.

Game Two: Disciples @ Generals
Game 2 of the night was another nail-biter. The Disciples would scratch out 5 runs, highlighted by an RBI double from Travis Ludwig. The Generals would post 6 runs in the first, and never look back…eeking out a 6-5 win. The Generals would hit nothing but singles on the night, but it was enough to earn the dub.

Game Three: Disciples @ Cobra Kai
The Disciples would start strong, grabbing a 4-0 lead right out of the gates. The Kai would answer, and then pile on. Antonio Lillo finished the night 5 for 5, 5 runs scored, and 1 RBI. Rob Tomkinson followed Antonio going 4 for 5, with 4 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Bob Lillo emptied the bases with a grand slam and then hit a 2-run bomb (with the same corked bat) 2 innings later. J/K Bob. Kai win big, 20-7.

Game Four: Only Fans @ The Yard
Only Fans would Only Score 3 runs in this one, all in the first inning. In fact, they’d only get 2 baserunners the rest of the game. The Yard would start slowly, scoring 1 run through 3 innings. Nearly every Yardy would get on base in the 4th, as the team would post 8 runs. Mo “Don’t Call Me Jose” Rodriguez and J. Pane each would hit 2-run triples, helping the Yard defeat the Fans, 9-3.

Game Five: Dirty Dozen @ The Yard
Johnny Poore’s 2-homer night led the way for the Yard. JB Jordan finished 3 for 3, with 2 runs scored, a triple, and 3 RBIs. Randy Helsman went 2 for 2 with a walk. D12 struggled to string together hits after the first inning. Arik Fenton would provide most of the offense, going 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 runs scored. D12 can’t handle the Yard, 12-7.

Game Six: Dirty Dozen @ Balls Deep
The low-scoring night continued, as D12 would post only 1 run… which was John Aiken - who led off the game with a single. He’d later score on an Arik Fenton sac fly. Balls Deep would tally 7 runs, 2 by Casey Condron. Nick Elia would drive in 4 runs, to lead B-Deep to a 7-1 victory.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of S. Carter, “A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.”
