Friday Men’s - Oct 20, 2023

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Balls Deep @ Generals
Balls Deep scored 12 on the night, with 6 of the runs coming from the bottom half of the lineup. Great balance led run production in every inning except 2. Trevor Harris scored twice, as did Bob Stanley and Derek Benner. The Generals were held scoreless through 5 but would collect 5 runs at the end of the game. Dylan Patterson scored twice and Eric Erle drove in 2. Balls Deep defeats the Generals, 12 - 5.

Game Two: The Yard @ American Legion
The law firm of Pane, Helman, and Poore led off the game loading the bases for cleanup hitter Mike Koelzer. And Mike did the job, clearing the bases with a first-inning grand slam. Pane and Helman would open the 2nd inning the same way - both scoring. Legion dropped in a few runs here and there throughout the first 5 innings, but would really get it going in the 6th. Josh Kennedy, Mike Skrzat, Shawn Hines, Brian Wrigley, and Dan Powell all scored to grab a 9 - 8 lead. The Yard scored 3 in the seventh to reclaim a 2-run advantage. The Gallo boys opened the 7th with singles. An error, sac fly, walk, and a single later, and the Legion walked it off with a dub, 12 - 11.

Game Three: Cobra Kai @ Dirty Dozen
Even Mr. Miyagi couldn’t have stopped this beat down. We’d only play 4.5 innings in this one, with D12 going off on the Kai. Even Dozen’s player would score a run. Pete Abary would hit a grand slam to cap off his 4 for 4 night, with 4 runs scored, and 5 RBIs. The Kai’s bright spot was Joey Ruggiero who was 2 for 2 with a walk, a double, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored. D12 wins big, 16 - 4.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of S. Carter, “A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.”
