B East 11-12 Playoffs

Pitch Please V Wildfire
Playoffs start off with a bang as Pitch Please opens the scoring. Ray Brittingham opens the playoffs off with a single before Joe Kindt reaches on an error. With two on, Pete Donnelly hits a single to load the bases. Wild Fire pitches around Jeff McMahon and he takes the walk to bring in the first run of the Fall Playoffs. Adam Schulang knocks one more in with a Fielders Choice and then Zach Mallow and Bill Larkin both get RBI singles to give Pitch Please a 4-run lead. Wild Fire gets two back when Anthony Amendolia knocks in Chris Amendolia in on a two out RBI single and then Jim Catanzaro knocks Anthony Amendolia in with an RBI single of his own, but Pitch Please picks him off on the basepath to limit the damage. It’s a quiet second with neither team scoring before Pitch Please gets two in the third. Adam Schulang draws a walk which is followed by a Dan Altemus single. Zach Malloy reaches on a fielder's choice before Bill Larkin knocks one in with a single. Steve Walsh follows with his own two out RBI single to add a cushion. Wildfire is held scoreless, but then holds Pitch Please scoreless in the 4th. In the bottom of the fourth, WildFire takes the lead, scoring 5 in the inning. Jim Catanzaro gets them going with one out with a single and then Eric Simonait gains a single of his own before Jim Nottingham reaches on an error. With bases loaded, Bruce Davis knocks in one with a single and then Mark Maria scores one on a ground out to second. Max Walens reaches on an RBI single to turn the lineup over and then Hector Torres knocks two in with an RBI triple. Pitch Please ties it right back up, leading the inning off with a Joe Kindt triple. Dan Altemus knocks him in with a single. The tie doesn’t last long as Josh Torres leads Wild Fire off with a single, Anthony Amendolia adds a single of his own, and then Jim Catanzaro knocks Josh Torres in with an RBI. Jim Nottingham knocks another run in on an RBI single to extend the lead going into the sixth. The sixth is scoreless from both teams and we enter the 7th inning 9-7 Wild Fire. Pitch Please starts the inning off with two singles, from Mark Stautter and Mike Sheridan, to roll the lineup over. Ray Brittingham flies out to deep left but then Joe Kindt knocks Mark in with a single. Pete Donnelly singles to load the bases and Jef McMahon delivers with a 2 RBI double. Adam Schulang adds to it with a 2 RBI single of his own and Pitch Please score 5 in the top of the seventh to take a 12-9 lead. Wild Fire starts off with a single from Josh Torres, Anthony Amendolia flies out before Jim Catanzaro singles. Eric Simonait loads the bases with one out and Jim Nottingam delivers the first RBI with a single. With bases loaded and one out, Wild Fire is only able to muster one run and falls just short. Pitch Please advances

Webb Gems V Stiff Sox
Webb Gems start off the first with a single from leadoff batter John Aiken, they score him two batters later with an RBI single from Nick Mackell. Stiff Sox tie it right back up in the bottom of the first, as Jimmy Templeton draws a leadoff walk, Nick Purshock follows it with a single, and then Chris Sanchez knocks Jimmy in with an RBI single. The second inning is scoreless as neither team musters much more than a few singles. In the top of the third, Webb Gems leads off with a single but Justin Perloff grounds into a Fielder's Choice. Ryan DeLong follows with a double and scores Justin and then John Aiken knocks Ryan in with an RBI single. As Alex Larosa is up to bat, John Aiken can’t keep his big toe on the bag and is called out for leaving the bag early. Stiff Sox lead off the bottom of the second, down 3-1, with a leadoff single from Jimmy Templeton, which is immediately followed by a Home Run from Nick Purshock to tie the game. Kurt Kraut gets on with a single and Chris Sanchez moves him over with a single of his own. Jose Sanchez grounds into a fielder's choice, but Kurt Kraut is able to come around to score and Stiff Sox takes the lead. The lead doesn’t last long though, as Webb Gems gets a one out single from Mike Touey, followed by a single from Nick Mackell, and then with two outs Kevin Carver knocks Mike Touey in. John Vacelletti walks to load the bases for George Webb but can’t capitalize as he flies out to the outfield. Stiff Sox is scoreless in the bottom of the fourth and holds Webb Gems scoreless in the top of the fifth. Stiff Sox starts the bottom of the fifth off with a single from Jimmy Templeton and, with two outs, Kurt Kraut knocks him in with a triple to take the lead. The top of the sixth starts off with a double from Ryan DeLong to get the tying run on base for Webb Gems. John Aiken singles and then Alex LaRosa knocks Ryan DeLong in with a single. Nick Mackell gets a single of his own to knock John Aiken and Webb Gems takes the lead in the top of the sixth. Down one in the bottom of the sixth, Jose Sanchez leads it off for Stiff Sox with a single, followed immediately by Antonio Almeida’s single. With two runners on, Matt Brady just misses on a flyout to left, but then Tyler Fornwalt doesn’t miss and hits a three run Home Run to retake the lead, the seventh lead change of the game. The top of the seventh sees George Webb get on with a single, but Webb Gems can only get the tying run to the plate, but their season ends with a flyout to left.

Stiff Sox win, 8-6

Pitch Please V Swingers
Pitch Please, in their second playoff game of the night, takes on the higher seed Swingers. The first sees the Swingers take an early lead, with a single from Colin Kelly and then RBI double from Brian Close. Ben Razzi gets an RBI double with two outs and Swingers take an early 2-0 lead. Pitch please gets a one out single from Zach Malloy followed by Bill Larkin. Steve Walsh gets an RBI single to score Zach Malloy and then Mark Stauffer gets an RBI single of his own. Swingers are unable to score in the second and we go into the third tied 2-2. Pitch Please comes out fast, Ray Brittingham starts it off with a double and then, with two outs, Jeff McMahon hits a two run Home Run to take the lead. Swingers tie it back up in the bottom of the third, with a leadoff double from Dale Hoover and then triple from Colin Kelly to score him. Brian Close knocks Kelly in with a Sac Fly and we are tied after 3. Both teams hold each other scoreless in the fourth and fifth. Pitch Please takes the lead in the sixth. After a one out walk by Jeff McMahon, Adam Schulang doubles and Jeff McMahon scores the next batter, on Dan Altemus routine ground ball. Swingers get a double from Brian Hoover, but can't muster a run. Pitch Please can't add an insurance run, and Swingers come up down one in the bottom of the seventh. Lucas Burke starts it off with a hustle play and reaches on an error but Dale Hoover grounds into a fielder's choice and switches places with him. Colin Kelly singles to put two runners on and Brian Close steps up with two runners on and one out. He rolls over and they get the out at third to bring Chris Clewell out. He sends a shot, but just misses and pops out to short to end it.

Stiff Sox V Philly’s Phinest
The first is scoreless before Stiff Sox gets the scoring going. Antonio Almeida starts it off with a single before Tyler Fornwalt hits an RBI triple. Alex DeCristofano knocks Fornwalt in with a single and Stiff Sox takes the lead. Philly’s Phinest finally breaks through in the bottom of the third. Chris Rocks draws a walk and then Dominic Rocks gets a two out single. Scott Vogelman capitalizes and knocks one out for a 3-run Home Run to give them a one run lead. The fourth sees Philly’s Phinest extend their lead, with Ray Rocks starting a one out rally with a single. Dave Shannon hits an RBI triple to score him and then Drew Costello knocks Shanon in with a single of his own. Drew scores two batters later on a fielder's choice and Philly’s Phinest extends their lead to 6-2. The top of the fifth is the inning for Stiff Sox. Matt Brady starts with a single, followed by Tyler Fornwalt and Jim Kullman also single. Jimmy Templeton hits a missile up the middle, but it's snagged and the play at the plate is made to save the run. Nick Purshock gets up with bases loaded and hits a bases clearing triple and scores on the error. Jeff Rodriguez keeps it going and then Kurt Kraut puts the emphasis on the inning with a two run Home Run. They score six in the top of the fifth and take an 8-6 lead. In the top of the sixth Stiff Sox gets two more insurance runs, with Antonio Almeida starting off with a single and then Matt Brady hitting a double and then Jim Kullman knocks them both in with a single. The bottom of the sixth starts with a strikeout, but Ray Rocks doubles and Drew Costello hits a two run Home Run to give Philly’s Phinest a chance. The bottom of the 7th sees Philly’s Phinest start with a single from Sean Dougherty. Chris Rocks singles as well before Dominic Rocks grounds into a double play and Philly’s Phinest falls just short.
