Mean Machine will kick this week off with a sac fly from Mike Van Fossen then a solo bomb off the bat of Scott Gerhart. Quality will answer them in the bottom of the inning and get those back plus one, getting a two run triple from Phil McCusker and run off a TJ Ebersole hit. Machine will tie this game up in the second on an RBI triple from Bob Cullman. Machine will grab the lead in the third with five more runs. Mike Van Fossen knocked in two runs while Scott Gerhart clears the bases with a three run bomb. Quality will match them with five runs of their own. Phil McCusker and Ebersole have RBI doubles, while Ragan Ebersole knocks in a run on a triple. Machine grab the lead again, this time with three runs. Lui KJalinousky and Jeff Kellogg have RBI triples, and Mike Pinelli nets a run on a single. Quality grabs the lead back in the bottom of the inning getting four runs. McCuker delivers the big hit with a two run bomb. Machine fight back again and this time will fight back for good. Gerhart smashes another homer, this time a two run shot and Brad Milnes adds a run on a single. Machine will strike late and take it, winning 15-13.
Player of the Game:
Scott Gerhart (Mean Machine) - 3/3, 3 HR’s, 6 RBI’s
Game #2 – The Runs vs. Carrolls Jewelers
Game two gets rolling and both teams would struggle for a bit as only Carrolls grabs runs early in the game. Kyle Gallagher knocks in Sarah Yoos after she starts the inning off with a single. Yoos will then drive in a run on a double in the third. We stand at 2-0 until the fifth, when Jade Hughes knocks in a run on a single. Both teams will dip their bats in a bon fire and get rolling in the sixth. Runs will start it grabbing five runs. Matt Kovaleksi and Bobby Ridenour have back to back doubles to net three runs. Erik Cusano nets one more run on a fielder’s choice. Carroll’s come back in the bottom of the inning needing five runs to win. Bill Shipe gets them started with a two run bomb, followed by a two-run bomb from Bryan Bart getting this to a 6-6 game. That is where we would stand as we stand at 6-6 after six innings as we hit time delay.
Player of the Game:
Bill Shipe (Carrolls) - 2/2, BB, 2B, HR, 2 RBI’s
Player of the Week:
