Game 1: Pitches Be Trippin vs Stiff Sox
Pitches Be Trippin got out to an early lead in the top of the 1st after scoring one run on a Bobby Scholly RBI sac fly. Stiff would strike back scoring two runs on a homerun by Anthony Crespo to give them a 2-1 lead heading into the 2nd. Pitches Be Trippin would regain the lead in the top of the 2nd scoring two runs on an RBI sac fly by Matt Horn and an error. Stiff Sox would go down in order in the bottom of the 2nd as Pitches Be Trippin held a 3-2 lead after two. Pitches Be Trippin got a couple runners on in the top of the 3rd but could not push them across as they remained scoreless in the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd, Stiff Sox would once again get the lead back as they scored three runs on RBI singles by Tommy Gallagher and Brian DeLucas and an RBI sac fly by Jimmy Templeton to go up 5-3 after three. Pitches Be Trippin had a big inning in the top of the 4th as they scored 5 runs on a three-run homer by Dennis Kelley and a two-run homer by Dan Kalonoski. Stiff Sox could not answer back in the bottom of the 4th as they went down in order and trailed Pitches Be Trippin 8-5. Pitches Be Trippin went cold in the top of the 5th as they could not score any runs. This once again opened the door for Stiff Sox and they took advantage as they scored five runs on an RBI single by Templeton, a two-run RBI triple by Crespo and a two-run homer by Gallagher to take a 10-8 lead after five. Pitches Be Trippin would cut their deficit in half in the top of the 6th scoring one run on an RBI double by Kevin Levonian. Stiff Sox could not extend their lead in the bottom of the 6th as they scored no runs. In the top of 7th, Pitches Be Trippin blew the game open as they scored 8 runs on an RBI walk by Anthony Perretti, RBI double by Scholly and homeruns by Kelley and Paul Abendroth to give them a 17-10 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th. Stiff Sox needed a bunch in the bottom of the 7th, but it was just too much of a hill to climb as they scored no runs for the second inning in a row. Pitches Be Trippin runs away in the 7th as they defeat Stiff Sox 17-10.
Game 2: The Swingers vs Dark Horse
The Swingers would get things started in the top of the 1st, but it would be a day they would struggle at the plate as they could not get anything going in the first three innings and did not score any runs. Dark Horse would come out completely opposite and put up a ton of runs as they scored 14 runs in the first three innings on RBI singles by Ryan Schock, Andy Springer, Jimmy Cooker, Jason Hudachek, Jack Stepnowski, RBI double by Springer, homerun by Cooker, RBI sac fly by Paul Ferruzzi and an RBI walk by Dave Ketterlinus to go up 14-0 after three. In the top of the 4th, The Swingers would get on the board scoring two runs on an RBI fielder’s choice by Ben Razzi and an RBI single by Zach Nikander. Dark Horse would add three more runs in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI double by Jesse Grasso and an RBI single by Dan Cripps to put Dark Horse up 17-2 heading into the 5th. In the top of the 5th, The Swingers would add another run on an RBI sac fly by Jack Larini, but they were going to need a lot more if they wanted to get back in the game. In the bottom of the 5th, Stepnowski knocked an RBI double in for Dark Horse as the game would end via run rule. Dark Horse wins big over The Swingers 19-3.
Game 3: The Swingers vs Purple Cobras
The Swingers got a chance at redemption coming off a brutal loss the game before. They got on the board early as they scored one run in the top of the 1st on an RBI single by Brian Close. Their opponent on the other hand would struggle like they did in the last game as Purple Cobras could not score any runs through the first three innings. The Swingers would add two more runs in the 3rd on an RBI double by Ben Razzi and an RBI single by Kevin Weintraub as they held a 3-0 lead over the Purple Cobras heading into the 4th. The Swingers would add two more runs in the top of the 4th on another RBI single by Brian Close and an RBI fielder’s choice by Razzi. In the bottom of the 4th, Purple Cobras finally woke up the bats scoring three runs on an RBI double by Steve Gardner as The Swingers held a 5-3 lead after the 4th. In the top of the 5th, The Swingers scored one run on an RBI single by Jack Stepnowski. Purple Cobras would answer in the bottom of the 5th as they scored three runs on a three-run homer by Jose Villa to tie the game at 6-6 heading into the 6th. Neither team would score in the 6th as we went into the final inning tied. In the top of the 7th, The Swingers got it going again as they scored five runs on an RBI triple by Jack Larini, RBI single by Brian Close and a three-run homerun by Dion Greene to go up five runs with only three outs to go. After a leadoff walk, Purple Cobras went down in order and ended the game. The Swingers turn things around defeating Purple Cobras 11-6.
Game 4: Purple Cobras vs Wire 2 Wire
Purple Cobras now had their chance to turn things around on offense in their second game of the day. In the top of the 1st they got their offense going as they scored four runs on RBI singles by Nate Roman and CJ Brancato and an RBI double by Mike Corrigan. Wire 2 Wire got one run back on a leadoff homerun by Adrian Reyes as Purple Cobras led 4-1 after the 1st. In the top of the 2nd, Purple Cobras could not keep the momentum going as they scored no runs. In the bottom of the 2nd, Wire 2 Wire got another run on an RBI single by Matt Morgan as Purple Cobras still led 4-2 after two. In the top of the 3rd, Purple Cobras scored two runs on RBI singles by Andrew Coates and Tim Gardner. Wire 2 Wire scored again in the bottom of the 3rd on a homerun by Jacob McDevitt as Purple Cobras led 6-3 heading into the 4th. In the top of the 4th, Purple Cobras scored four runs on an RBI single by Brandon Roman and RBI sac flies by Corrigan and Brancato. In the bottom of the 4th, Wire 2 Wire would win the inning as they scored five runs on an RBI single by Reyes, RBI double by Derrick Acker and an RBI sac fly by McDevitt to keep the score close at 10-8 Purple Cobras. Purple Cobras would extend their lead in the top of the 5th, scoring five runs on RBI singles by Brandon Roman and Gardner and an RBI double by Corrigan. Wire 2 Wire would go cold the rest of the way as they could not score in the 5th,6th or 7th innings. Purple Cobras added three insurance runs on RBI singles by Tom Friedman and Matt Miendel and RBI sac fly by Gardner. Purple Cobras gets one back and wins big over Wire 2 Wire 18-8.
Game 5: Doc’s Irish Pub vs Wire 2 Wire
Wire 2 Wire has a chance to do what the other teams with double headers on the day and get a W after coming off a big loss. Doc’s Irish Pub got things started in the top of the 1st as they scored one run on an RBI single by Clay Snyder. Wire 2 Wire would answer right back scoring five runs of their own on RBI singles by Jacob McDevitt, Ben Vitelli and Jason Falcone, RBI triple by Derrick Acker and an RBI sac fly by Sean Butrica as they led over Doc’s 5-1 after the 1st. In the top of the 2nd, Doc’s would fail to score a run. In the bottom of the 2nd, Wire 2 Wire added two more runs on an RBI double by Tom Signore and an RBI triple by Vitelli to extend their lead 7-1 after two. Doc’s added one run in the top of the 3rd on an RBI single by Brett Keszczyk. In the bottom of the 3rd, Wire 2 Wire opened the game up scoring six runs on an RBI single by Falcone, three-run homer by McDevitt and two runs by error as they held a commanding 13-2 lead heading into the 4th. Both teams were held scoreless in the 4th. In the top of the 5th, Doc’s scored one run on an RBI fielder’s choice by Kurtis Brown. Wire 2 Wire answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single by McDevitt. In the top of the 6th with one out for Doc’s, the game was called due to rain and lighting. Wire 2 Wire defeats Doc’s in a rain shortened game 14-3.
