Game 1: Purple Cobras vs Swingers
Purple Cobras batted around in the first inning scoring seven runs including a two-run RBI double by CJ Brancato and a two-run RBI single by Tim Gardner. Purple Cobras extended their lead in the 2nd on a two-run homer by Tim Gardner. Swingers got on the board in the third inning scoring three runs with singles by Dale Hoover, Ben Razzi and Zach Nikander to cut the deficit to 9-3. Purple Cobras got the runs right back in the bottom half of the 3rd on RBI doubles by Mike Corrigan and CJ Brancato and an RBI single by Cody Runner. Swingers would not go away quietly as they added four more runs in the 4th on an RBI double by Brian Close and a two-run homer by Ben Razzi. But again Purple Cobras answered and got all four runs back on RBI doubles by Cody Runner and Mike Corrigan leaving the score at 16-7 after four. Swingers did not have their swings the rest of the way and failed to score. Purple Cobras added three more in the 6th on a handful of singles. Purple Cobras pulls away and defeats Swingers 19-7.
Game 2: Palz Tap House vs Purple Cobras
Cody Runner started the scoring with a solo homerun in the top of the 1st and Palz came right back and scored a run on a sac fly to tie the game. Brandon Roman gave the Purple Cobras the lead on his RBI single in the top of the 2nd and again Palz tied the game on a walk. Purple Cobras regained the lead in the third on a sac fly. Palz took the lead on a two-run homer by Ryan Nakonieczny in the bottom half of the inning as they led 4-3. Palz would struggle the next couple of innings and Purple Cobras took full advantage scoring 13 runs in the 4th and 5th innings on doubles by Brandon Roman, Cody Runner, Nick Rodriguez and Rob Walmsley and triples by Mike Corrigan and CJ Brancato to go up 16-4. Purple Cobras would add 4 more in the top of the 6th on doubles by Mike Corrigan, Matt Meindl, Tim Gardner and Nick Rodriguez as Palz trailed 20-4. Palz attempted to get back in the game in the 6th scoring six runs on doubles by Jordan Cohen and Nakonieczny a sac fly and an RBI single by Matt Herbert as they cut Purple Cobras lead to 20-10. Tom Friedman added an insurance run in the 7th on an RBI double as Purple Cobras took down Palz Tap House 21-10.
Game 3: Palz Tap House vs One Hit Wonders
One Hit Wonders took control of the game from the start and scored three runs with a two-run homer by Andy Springer. Palz could not get their offense going and failed to score in the first four innings. One Hit Wonders added three more runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings on an RBI double by Jimmy Cooker and a two-run homer by Joey Poulosky as One Hit Wonders led 6-0 after four. In the fifth One Hit Wonders added four more runs with RBI singles by Dan Cripps and Cooker. Pete Herbert got Palz on the board on an RBI double as Palz went on to score four runs in the 5th to bring the score to 10-4 One Hit Wonders after five. One Hit Wonders failed to score the rest of the way but Palz could only score one run the rest of the way. One Hit Wonders defeats Palz Tap House 10-5.
Game 4: Stiff Sox vs One Hit Wonders
This game proved to be a low scoring affair. Stiff Sox took the lead in the first inning scoring three runs on a sac fly, fielder’s choice and a double by Brian DeLucas. One Hit Wonders got on the board in the 2nd on a sac fly by CC Witt. Jack Stepnowski hit another sac fly for One Hit Wonders as the score sat 3-2 Stiff Sox after three. Stiff Sox could not get the offense going and had to rely on defense to keep the lead. In the 5th, One Hit Wonders Jesse Grasso hit a two-run homer to give One Hit Wonders a 4-3 lead. That brought us to the 7th, Stiff Sox had two runners on with no outs and a chance to tie or win the game. One Hit Wonders defense came up big and made three fielder’s choice plays and took home the victory. One Hit Wonders wins a close one 4-3.
