Game #1 – The Runs vs. Carroll’s

The Runs kick off these playoffs with three runs on an Erik Cusano RBI double, Nick Cusano RBI single and Jon Suchy sac fly. Carroll’s will answer back with four runs in the bottom of the inning on two run singles from both Bryan Bart and Brian Sauers. Runs will grab the lead in the third inning on a two-run single from Erik Cusano as they lead 5-4. Carroll’s will grab that lead right back in the bottom of the inning with a Greg Lesher RBI double and RBI singles from Bryan Bart and Sauers. Runs have a big fourth and fifth inning and score six total runs. Erik Cusano stays hot and adds two more RBI’s on a double. Carroll’s will go cold for a couple of innings but will come back in a huge way in the sixth as they push ten runs across the plate. Steve DiGiovanni and Kevin Shinkunas start the scoring with RBI singles, followed by the biggest hit of the inning a bases clearing double from Lesher. Carroll’s will hold Runs down in the seventh as they steal this game late. Carroll’s win 17-12.

Game #2 – Carroll's vs. Triple D

Carroll’s will look to keep that luck rolling from game one into game two and will get it going in the second inning, getting red hot again and scoring nine runs. Brian Sauers smashes a three-run bomb, while John Zeits brings in two runs on a single. Lesher continues to stay hot today and brings in two runs on a single as well. Triple D can only manage three runs in the first two innings. Carroll’s are back at it again in the third, getting four more runs, with Zeits bringing in two more. Triple D will show some fight in the fourth inning as they bat around and push across eight runs. The inning will be paced by two three-run homers, off the bat of Scott Gerhart and Dom Petrucelli. Unfortunately, Carroll’s keep the pressure on as they will get a late grand slam from Bill Shipe. Carroll’s will win their second game of the day and move on to the championship next week. Carroll’s win 19-16.

Game #3 – Dirty Balls vs. Muckdogs

We head to the final game of the night and the one that will decide the other team that will make the Hatfield championship. Mark Rothenberger will get it started with a two-run bomb to make it 2-0. Muckdogs will answer immediately with three runs. Evan Grzymowski hits a solo shot, Chelsea Detweiler brings in one on a sac fly and Ryan Catania brings in a run on a single. Muckdogs will get two more runs on an error and Bill Stone RBI single to make this a 5-2 game. Dirty Balls will tie up this game in the fourth after a Tim Frei RBI double and Sean Murphy two run bomb. But Muckdogs will respond again very quickly with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Grzymkowski will bring in a run on a double, and Stony brings in a run on a fielder’s choice. Muckdogs get a couple insurance runs in the sixth on another big Stony hit, this time a two runs single.
