Week 7 at the Quarry

Post by MikeY » Thu Nov 08, 2018 1:00 pm

Game 1: Vertex Pest Management (2-4) at Irish Car Bombs (1-5-1)
ICB realizes their season was over in week 3 and doesn't show up, Vertex wins by forfeit 7-0.

Player of the game: n/a

Game 2: Mayhem (2-3) at Vertex Pest Management (3-4)
Both teams put up a 5-spot in the 1st...all on singles and errors. Mayhem gets 2 in the 2nd on two singles and two ground outs and another error. They'd hold vertex and get 9 more by batting around in the top of the 3rd. Vertex gets 2 back in the bottom half to make it 16-7. Vertex win the 4th inning 5-4 and the 5th inning 2-1 to make the score 21-14. After holding Mayhem in the top of the 6th, Vertex gets a lead off triple, a sac fly, a walk, a single, an RBI double, a walk, an error but would make the next two outs to end the game 21-18.

Player of the game: Shane Hanna (Mayhem) - 3/5 (2 1B, 2B, 2 ROE) 3 R, 5 RBI

Game 3: Benny the Bums (3-4) at Garges Gang (0-6)
BB gets 1 in the 1st on a double, a single and a sac fly. GG answers with a single and an RBI double in the bottom half. Both teams go scoreless i nthe 2nd and BB blows up in the top of the 3rd. They bat around, plating 6 runs on five hits, a walk, a ground out and an error. GG gets 1 back in the bottom half on two singles. Each team gets 2 in the 4th and the GG plates 4 in the bottom of the 5th on seven hits to cut their deficit to 10-8. But BB would get 4 in the top of the 7th on five singles and two ground outs to take this on 14-8.

Player of the game: Dave Carson (BB) 3/5 (2 1B, 2B, ROE) 3 R, RBI

Game 4: Garges Gang (0-7) vs DaVanzo Shift (0-0)
GG comes out firing in their 2nd game, taking an 8-3 lead after two innings. Unfortunately they'd go almost silent after that. They lose the next three innings, 2-0, 5-0 and 8-0 to find themselves down 18-9 after 5 innings. They'd plate 2 more in the 6th but it's too little/too late at that point and they lose 22-11 to complete the all-defeated season.

Player of the game: Bob Grosch (DaVanzo) 5/6 (3 1B, 2B, 3B) 4 R, 5 RBI
