Please note: This tournament is a wood bat affair. Male and female eddies may use any bat as set forth by Softball America’s regular season bat restriction policy.

Please DO NOT register for this tournament unless you are reasonably certain you will be able to attend. If, after registering for the tourney, you find you cannot attend, please be considerate enough to manager tandems and those on the alternate list to notify the league office as soon as humanly possible.

Cost: $20.00/player (2 games guaranteed)

This is a 1-day coed softball event. Nine teams will be formed entirely through a draft system based on individual player statistics. The 9 teams will then compete for the 1-pitch title. Each batter receives 1 pitch. If the pitch is fouled off, swung at and missed, or hits the mat behind home plate, the batter is struck out. If the pitch is a ball, the batter walks. The rest of the game is played in normal fashion. Winning teams will receive their choice of custom hoodies. Upon request, laminated certificates will be awarded to the winning managers and tournament MVP's.

This is a great day of softball, fun, food and drink-- kind of like one big picnic where a softball game breaks out every 50 minutes. It's also a great way to meet other Softball America league members. Bring chairs, tents, coolers, and whatever else to make yourself comfortable. Make a day of it or come and go as you please.

Members will be listed in the body of the draft on a first come, first served basis. Entrants must be, or have been, a registered member of Softball America at some point in the past 31 years.*

*Due to the lack of female league member participation over the last few tournaments, female outsiders WILL be permitted to enter the tournament.

Tournament play will follow ASA and SBA league rules with the following exceptions...

1. Each tandem will draft no less than 2 females BEFORE the 7th round.
2. Core/eddie walk rule WILL be observed. If a male player is walked with a female eddie behind him, the male player will be placed on 2B (credited with a base on balls) and the female eddie will bat. Unlike our league rule which needs 2 outs in the 5th, 6th, or 7th inning for the rule to kick in, this rule is in effect through the entire game.
3. 2nd foul ball courtesy for eddies will not be observed.
4. A 3-3-2 eddie rule will apply for this tournament - 3 eddies must be in the line-up, 3 eddies must play the field, 2 of the eddies in the line-up and field must be female.
5. All roster players must be in the batting line-up.
6. Batting line-ups must consist of at least 1 female eddie in one of the first 4 batting slots.

Please know it is entirely possible you could be drafted to a tandem or end up on a team with people you don't like. If that is something you won't be able to deal with, please don't sign up. And please don't be one of those people that signs up, gets on a team you don't like then makes an excuse to bail out. Remember, this is softball. It's all about having fun and nothing more.

The player draft will be held Sunday, August 30, 7:00 pm at the Quarry snack stand. Should inclement weather postpone the draft, we will run it on Monday, 6 pm at the Quarry.

Alex Freeman and Chelsea Detwiler will manage a 9th team.

CJ Tully signed up to play, but has never played in SBA which renders him ineligible for the tournament. Amanda Sheehan will take CJ's place in the body of the draft.

Alternate male eddies Glenn Strattis and Matt McReynolds have moved to the body of the draft as have Josh Reed, Mark Rothenberger, Mark Danouski, Matt Abramson, Ed Colgan, Jimmy Costar, John McGranaghan, Kenny Gerges, Michael Oakes, Meagan Squartino, and Kris Pulli.

Why did I add a 9th team? Because we had 20 alternates. We've played 9 in the past. With 20 alternates, there's no reason not to do it again. 13 additional league members now have an opportunity at a fun day of softball. Yes, we will start earlier (8 am) and end later. It's more work and likely a bit more aggravation, but in the end it's the right thing to do and very much worth it to me.

Each manager tandem has sent in a 3-digit number. This 3-digit number will be used in a lottery to determine tournament team numbers, draft order, and first round match-ups. The number we will work off of will be established via the PA Pick 3 Lottery on Monday, August 10th (morning draw). https://www.palottery.state.pa.us/Draw- ... ICK-3.aspx

Chuck Mastrangelo / Laura Albertson (fe) - 555
Ryan Hensman / Tess Frelick (fe) - 610
Eric Adiletto / Maddy Rickard (fe) - 343
Curtis Hensman / Alexis Roscioli (fe) - 126
Bill Brancato / Alissa Tercha (fe) - 369
Jason McLaughlin / Brittany Penecale (fe) - 717
Corey Wambold / Jenn Sevitski (fe) - 723
Joe Horchuck / Jenny Minnick (fe) - 438
Alex Freeman / Chelsea Detwiler (fe) - 730

The managing tandem with the 3-digit number that is closest to the PA Pick 3 number (plus/minus) will be Team #1. Using each of the remaining manager tandem's 3-digit numbers, we will move in ascending order from the winning number to determine the balance of the team numbers. 000 will follow 999.

Team numbers determine draft order and 1st game start times and match-ups.
8:00 am - Team 1 vs. Team 2
8:50 am - Team 3 vs. Team 4
9:40 am - Team 5 vs. Team 6
10:30 am - Team 7 vs. Team 8
11:20 am - Team 9 vs. the winner of the 8:00 am game.

RESULTS

PA Pick 3 Lottery, morning draw: 756
Closest to that number (plus/minus): Team #1: Alex Freeman / Chelsea Detwiler (fe) - 730

Moving in ascending order (000 will follow 999), the rest of the team number assignments are as follows:

Team #2: Curtis Hensman / Alexis Roscioli (fe) - 126
Team #3: Eric Adiletto / Maddy Rickard (fe) - 343
Team #4: Bill Brancato / Alissa Tercha (fe) - 369
Team #5: Joe Horchuck / Jenny Minnick (fe) - 438
Team #6: Chuck Mastrangelo / Laura Albertson (fe) - 555
Team #7: Ryan Hensman / Tess Frelick (fe) - 610
Team #8: Jason McLaughlin / Brittany Penecale (fe) - 717
Team #9: Corey Wambold / Jenn Sevitski (fe) - 723

Jason Pane and Amanda Sheehan (fe) can no longer attend the tournament. Being there are more than enough eddies available to meet each team's eddie requirements, I thought it only fair to assign alternates based upon the order with which they signed up and not their eddie status. Liam Grob and Jesse Faller have been moved to the body of the draft.
