Labor Day 2024 1-Pitch Tournament / Results

Post by sixofdiamonds »

It was a great day for a great cause. The fundraiser was a tremendous success. The outpouring of love from the SBA family was heart warming. Mike C., the recipient of the love and support, made a heartfelt and teary-eyed thank-you announcement as the gift baskets were handed out.

As far as the actual softball tourney was concerned, the action was fast and furious. The Wood/Lyons team navigated through the winner's bracket to await the loser's bracket challenge. As the dust settled, the Brancato/Freeman squad said, 'We may be coming from the loser's bracket, but let's see what you got. Bring it on'.

The Brancato/Freeman team let their bats do most of the talking early and often and sealed the Game 1 deal with a convincing win. On to the deciding game. Maybe it was the drain of fighting through the loser's bracket or maybe it was the Wood/Lyons squad's gloves and bats that told the tale. After all was said and done, the Wood/Lyons team took home the 1-pitch win with a convincing 19-8 victory. Congrats to Team #6.

Winners of the 1-pitch tourney will receive custom hoodies. Please reach out to Curt Hensman and place your order.

Speaking of Curt, and allow me to include Stephanie Thrasher and Bill Brancato, these people went above and beyond the call of duty to help make this tourney a success. I couldn't spend as much time at the tourney as I would have liked and taken as many action photos as I normally do because I needed to tend to my ailing wife. Curt, Steph, and Billy were there for me as they've been most of the past few months. For that and to them I am very grateful.
