Game 1: Swingers vs Pitches Be Trippin

Pitches Be Trippin got on the board first in top of the 1st scoring four runs with two big RBI doubles by Matt Sheehan and Paul Abendroth. Swingers got two back in the bottom of the 1st on a sac fly and an RBI single by Ben Razzi. Anthony Peretti and CJ McCafferty extended Pitches Be Trippin’s lead in the top of the 2nd and 3rd on RBI singles to give them a 6-2 lead. Brian Close had a couple RBI singles and Alex Vitek added another one to tighten the game to 6-5 after five innings. This would be the closest Swingers would get as Pitches Be Trippin added seven runs in the last two innings on five singles and two doubles by Matt and Harry Horn as Pitches Be Trippin went on to defeat Swingers 13-5.

Game 2: Doc’s Irish Pub vs Swingers

Swingers got another chance to get a win on the day as they took on Doc’s in their doubleheader. Doc’s got off to a quick start scoring nine runs in the first inning on a bunch of singles and a two-run RBI double by Paul Elliot. Swingers got on the board in the top of the 2nd on an RBI single by Kevin Weintraub. Doc’s offense would slow down a little only scoring three runs combined in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th on singles with 2 of them by Denny Lord. Swingers would catch back up quick scoring seven runs in the 3rd and 4th innings on singles and an RBI double by Zach Nikander and RBI triple by Matt Close to pull the game to 12-8 Doc’s after four. Offenses were both slow in the 5th and 6th as only one run was scored by Swingers. In the top of the 7th, Swingers would score 5 runs including a three-run homer by Kevin Weintraub to take the lead 14-12 and Doc’s down to their last three outs. After a few singles and a run scored, Dylan Brooks came up to the plate with 0 outs and hit a game winning three-run homerun as Doc’s walked off Swingers 16-14.

Game 3: Stiff Sox vs Purple Cobras

Purple Cobras got out in front early scoring three runs in the 1st with a big RBI double by CJ Brancato. After Purple Cobras scored another two runs in the top of the 2nd, Stiff Sox answered and tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd including a home run by Chris Sanchez. Mike Corrigan would regain the lead for Purple Cobras in the 4th on a homerun, but Stiff Sox’s John Derr would tie the game again on his RBI triple. Purple Cobras would take control the rest of the game as they held Stiff Sox scoreless the rest of the way. Purple Cobras would seven more runs including a two-run RBI triple by CJ Joseph as they defeated Stiff Sox 13-6.

Game 4: Palz Tap House vs Stiff Sox

Palz’s Corey Woodcock delivered an RBI double in the first inning as they took a 2-0 lead after one. Stiff Sox would struggle offensively out of the gate only scoring two runs in the first four innings. Palz was clicking at the plate as they put up another 17 runs in the 2nd,3rd and 4th innings on RBI triple by Casey Long and homeruns by Jordan Cohen, Corey Woodcock and Bob Jacob to give Palz a 19-2 lead after four. Stiff Sox would close the gap in the 5th as they scored 8 runs on homeruns by Tyler Fornwalt, Chris Sanchez and Brian DeLucas. Casey Long hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 21-10. Stiff Sox added another run on an RBI double by Chris Sanchez in the 6th, but it was not enough as the game ended by run rule. Palz Tap House beats Stiff Sox 21-11.
