Game 1: Dark Horse vs Palz
Palz jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after a couple of singles including an RBI single by Pete Herbert and a sac fly. Dark Horse took control of the game in the 2nd as they scored eleven runs including homers by Jim Walker, Nick Marina and Paul Harding and a triple by Bill Jones to go up 11-2. They would add nine more runs in the 3rd on homers by Matt Sompel, Paul Ferruzzi Jr, Nick Marina and Paul Harding along with an RBI triple by Walker and RBI double by Sompel. Palz would get two runs back in the 4th on singles and a double by Kyle Simms, but they would need more to keep this game going past the 5th. Dark Horse delivered two more runs in the bottom of the 4th on doubles by Harding, Dave Ketterlinus and Jason Hudachek. Palz would fail to score in the 5th and that would end the game by run rule. Dark Horse throttles past Palz 22-4.
Game 2: Wire 2 Wire vs Stiff Sox
Wire 2 Wire had a big day at the plate as they scored 20 runs on the day. Everyone in the lineup hit including grand slams by Beau Ziegler and Jacob McDevitt, triples by Joe DiMezza and Cody Judge, and doubles by Gene Walczak and Ziegler. It was not the Stiff Sox day and they could not buy a run after loading the bases in the 2nd inning. Wire 2 Wire beats Stiff Sox by run rule 20-0.
Game 3: Stiff Sox vs Swingers
Stiff Sox won via forfeit 7-0.
Game 4: Dark Horse vs Purple Cobras
Dan Roman led off the game with a triple as Purple Cobras put up three runs in the 1st to take an early lead over Dark Horse. Nick Marina hit a two-run homer for Dark Horse as they only trailed by one run after one. Purple Cobras would extend their lead in the 2nd and 3rd innings scoring 5 runs with doubles by Dan and Brandon Roman. In the 4th, Dark Horse scored six runs on a few singles, double by Dave Ketterlinus and a three-run homer by Nick Marina to tie the game at 8-8. Purple Cobras would score one run and regain the lead in the 5th on doubles by Tom Friedman and Mike Corrigan. Dark Horse answered scoring four runs to retake the lead 12-9 after a triple by Jim Walker. Purple Cobras kept fighting and a huge seven run 6th inning with big RBI singles by Dan and Brandon Roman and Dave Clayton, double by Tim Gardner and a homerun by Steve Gardner to take a 16-12 lead over Dark Horse. Paul Ferruzzi Jr. hit a two-run RBI triple in the 6th as Dark Horse put up three runs to pull within one. Time had run out though and the game ended after six innings. Purple Cobras survives a late push from Dark Horse winning 16-15.
Game 5: Purple Cobras vs Doc’s Irish Pub
A couple singles including an RBI single from Dylan Rusin and a sac fly put Doc’s on top in the first 2-0. Purple Cobras would grab the lead in the 3rd on RBI singles by CJ Brancato, Mike Corrigan, Tim Gardner and Tom Friedman as they led 5-2 after three. Doc’s would score three runs in the top of the 4th with an RBI triple by Clay Snyder. The tie would not last long as Purple Cobras scored four runs in the bottom half with doubles by CJ Brancato and Matt Miendl and triple by Mike Corrigan to take the lead 9-5. Paul Elliot’s RBI triple helped keep the game close as Doc’s scored two runs in the 5th to make it 9-7. Purple Cobras got some separation back in the bottom half scoring two runs on a double by Steve Gardner and RBI single by CJ Brancato. Dan Roman would hit a three-run homer in the 6th to add some key insurance runs as Purple Cobras led 14-7 going into the 7th. In the 7th needing a bunch, Doc’s strung some hits together including RBI singles by Matt Fronheiser, Dylan Rusin, Denny Lord, Brett Keszczyk and AJ Bagushinski to make it a one score game and the tying run on 2nd. Purple Cobras got Doc’s to pop out and end the comeback. Purple Cobras halts at late comeback from Doc’s as they go onto win 14-13.
Game 6: Pitches Be Trippin vs One Hit Wonders
One Hit Wonders brought the bats today as they took a 10-1 lead over Pitches Be Trippin early in the game. Leading the way was CC Witt with a double and a single and Mike Trivino and Tom O’Neil each had doubles of their own along with a ton of singles from everyone else. Andy Springer added a two-run homer in the 6th to extend the lead to 12-1. Pitches Be Trippin got a little something going in the bottom of the sixth as they scored three runs on a homer by Anthony Perretti. Jesse Grasso would hit a two-run homer for One Hit Wonders in the 7th and the defense shut the door on Pitches Be Trippin. One Hit Wonders defeats Pitches Be Trippin 14-4.
