Game 1: Purple Cobras vs Doc’s Irish Pub
Doc’s got on the board first in the top of the first on an RBI fielder’s choice. Purple Cobras would answer back in the bottom of the 1st, scoring three runs on a two-run RBI triple by Steve Gardner and an RBI single by Mike Corrigan to go up 3-1 after one. Denny Lord would hit an RBI single in the top of the 2nd for Doc’s to pull within one. Purple Cobras would get the run right back in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI single by Dan Roman to lead 4-2 over Doc’s after the 2nd. The bats would go cold for Doc’s in the third and fourth as they failed to score. Purple Cobras would take advantage and put up six runs total in the 3rd and 4th on RBI singles by Gardner and Jose Villa, RBI double by Tom Friedman, an error and a fielder’s choice as Purple Cobras now led 10-2 heading into the fifth inning. In the top of the 5th, Doc’s would score three runs on a homer by Lord to keep the game close. Unfortunately, it would not stay close for long as Purple Cobras exploded for six runs in the bottom of the 5th on RBI singles by Villa and Dan Roman, and RBI doubles by Brandon Roman, Gardner and Rey Jimenez to take a 16-5 lead after five. Doc’s would not score in the sixth and Purple Cobras would put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 6th as they scored three more runs on RBI singles by Villa and Dan Roman to make it 19-5 after the 6th. Doc’s would go down 1-2-3 in the 7th to end the game. Purple Cobras’ offense powers them past Doc’s Irish Pub 19-5.
Game 2: Doc’s Irish Pub vs Palz Tap House
Doc’s would look to turn things around in game 2 of their doubleheader as they faced Palz Tap House. Palz got first ups and took an early lead after an RBI single by Justin Gutirriez to score one run as they led 1-0 after the first. Palz would score two more in the top of the 2nd on homers by Matt Herbert and Jordan Cohen. Doc’s would get the offense going in the bottom of the 2nd as they scored seven runs on RBI singles by Clay Snyder and Austin Kooker, RBI double by Ryan Fronheiser, RBI triple by John Beard, an error and a homer by Dylan Brooks to lead 7-3 over Palz after the 2nd. Gutirriez would get another run for Palz in the top of the 3rd after hitting another RBI single. Doc’s would have another big inning in the bottom of the 3rd as they scored six runs on RBI singles by Kyle Budynkiewcz and Ryan Fronheiser, RBI doubles by Denny Lord and Sam Matas and a fielder’s choice to extend their lead over Palz 13-4 after three. Palz would score three of their own in the top of the 4th on an RBI single by Nick Hilderbrand and an RBI double by Peter Herbert. Doc’s would continue to add in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI double by Matt Fronheiser and homers by Budynkiewcz and Dylan Brooks as they scored five more runs to take a commanding 18-7 lead after the 4th. Both teams failed to score in the fifth and Palz could not score in the 6th either which brought us to the bottom of the 6th and Doc’s only needing a handful to end the game. Doc’s would get an RBI single by Paul Elliot and homers again by Budynkiewcz and Brooks to end the game. Doc’s Irish Pub wins via run rule over Palz 23-7.
Game 3: Stiff Sox vs One Hit Wonders
One Hit Wonders got first at bats and scored one run on an RBI single by Dan Cripps to take an early 1-0 lead over Stiff Sox after the first. One Hit Wonders would add another four runs in the top of the 2nd on RBI singles by Tom O’Neil and David Larkin and an RBI double by Andrew Bougher. Stiff Sox would get on the board in the bottom of the 2nd as they scored two runs on an RBI triple by Blake Margot to make it 5-2 One Hit Wonders after the second. One Hit Wonders continued to add in the top of the 3rd, scoring another two runs on another RBI single by O’Neil and a sac fly. Jose Sanchez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd for Stiff Sox to keep things close at 7-4 One Hit Wonders after the third. One Hit Wonders would have a big inning in the top of the 4th as they scored six runs on an RBI single by Cripps, RBI double by O’Neil and homers by Jimmy Cooker and Nick Mariano. Stiff Sox would answer in the bottom of the 4th with four runs of their own on RBI doubles by Matt Brady and Anthony Crespo to make it 13-8 One Hit Wonders after four. One Hit Wonders would fail to score the rest of the game which opened the door for Stiff Sox to try and make a comeback. In the bottom of the fifth they scored two runs on an RBI single by Jimmy Templeton and an RBI double by Margot to make it 13-10 One Hit Wonders after the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs, the Stiff Sox offense made a run as they scored eight on an RBI single by Andrew Bertolino, RBI double by Sanchez, RBI triple by Templeton and homers by Tommy Gallagher and Adam Allman to make it 18-13. One Hit Wonders would go down 1,2,3 in the 7th as Stiff Sox completes the comeback over One Hit Wonders and wins 18-13.
Game 4: Stiff Sox vs Pitches Be Trippin
Pitches Be Trippin got out front early in the top of the 1st after a two-run homer by Brendan McCoy. Stiff Sox would get off to a slow start and put up no runs in the first two innings. Pitches Be Trippin would add three more runs in the top of the 2nd on RBI singles by Dave McCauley and Dan Kalinoski and an RBI triple by Matt Horn to go up 5-0. They would add four more runs in the top of the 3rd on an RBI single by CJ McCafferty and a two-run homer by McCoy. Stiff Sox would finally get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd on RBI singles by Jose Sanchez and Blake Margot as they trailed 9-2 after the third. Pitches Be Trippin would get both runs back in the top of the 4th as they scored two of their own on an RBI double by Kris Karaba and a homer by Kalinoski. Stiff Sox would score three more runs in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI single by Brian DeLucas and an RBI double by Andrew Bertolino as Pitches Be Trippin led 11-5 after the fourth. Pitches Be Trippin would score two in the top of the 6th on an RBI sac fly and an RBI single by McCauley. Stiff Sox would win the inning by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 6th on a sac fly and RBI singles by Margot and Tommy Gallagher as they still trailed 13-8 over Pitches Be Trippin after the sixth. Pitches Be Trippin would go down in order in the 7th which meant Stiff Sox needed five to tie or six to win it in the bottom of the 7th. After a leadoff single, Stiff Sox would go down in order and end the game. Pitches Be Trippin keeps the scoring low as they defeat Stiff Sox 13-8.
