Game 1: Purple Cobras vs Pitches Be Trippin
Purple Cobras got first ups and scored three runs on a three-run homer by Steve Gardner. Pitches Be Trippin answered with three runs of their own on a sac fly and an RBI triple by Brendan McCoy as we stood tied at 3-3 after the first. Purple Cobras scored one run in the top of the 2nd on a fielder's choice. Pitches Be Trippin kept the bats going in the bottom of the 2nd as they scored five more runs on a fielder's choice and RBI singles by Matt Horn, Anthony Perretti and Brendan McCoy to bring the score to 8-4 Pitches Be Trippin after the second. Purple Cobras would reduce their deficit in the top of the 3rd on another fielder's choice as they trailed 8-5 heading into the fourth. Pitches Be Trippin would add a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Matt Horn as they now led 9-5 after the fourth. Purple Cobras would bat around in the top of the fifth as they scored 9 runs on RBI singles by Robby Villa and Steve Gardner, RBI double by Jose Villa, RBI triple by Mike Corrigan and a three-run homer by Dan Roman to take the lead 14-9 after the fifth. Pitches Be Trippin would fail to score the rest of the way and Purple Cobras would add one more run in the top of the 7th on an RBI single by Tim Gardner. Purple Cobras defeats Pitches Be Trippin 15-9.
Game 2: Purple Cobras vs Palz Tap House
Purple Cobras looked to get two wins on the day as they faced Palz Tap House in their second game. Palz got off to a slow start and did not score the first three innings. Purple Cobras took advantage and combined for eight runs through the first three innings on RBI singles by Robby Villa, Brandon Roman and Tom Friedman, RBI double by Brandon Roman and a couple sac flies to go up 8-0 after three. Palz would get on the scoreboard in the top of the 4th as they scored two runs on a two-run homer by Tom Jacob. Purple Cobras kept it going in the bottom of the 4th as they put up another seven runs on RBI single by Tim Gardner, RBI doubles by Mike Corrigan, Steve Gardner, Friedman and Villa and an RBI triple by Brandon Roman to increase their lead 15-2 after the fourth. Palz would try to get back in the game in the top of the fifth as they scored three runs on RBI singles by Justin Gutierrez and Jacob as well as a sac fly to make it 15-5 after the fifth. Palz could not score in the 6th and Purple Cobras would add one more run on an RBI single by Matt Meindl to go up 16-5 heading into the 7th. Palz would try to start a rally in the top of the 7th as they scored two runs on an RBI single by Pete Herbert and a fielder's choice to add another run, but a flyout would end the game. Purple Cobras defeats Palz Tap House 16-8.
Game 3: One Hit Wonders vs Stiff Sox
Stiff Sox got on the board first in the top of the first on an RBI double by Nick Purshock. One Hit Wonders would answer with an RBI single by Jimmy Cooker to tie the game 1-1 after the first. Both teams would fail to score in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Stiff Sox could not get the offense going in the top of the 4th and put up 0 runs again. One Hit Wonders would have a big inning in the bottom of the 4th as they scored seven runs on RBI singles by Walt Zolna, Bill Groff and Tom O'Neill and a grand slam by Andrew Baughner to make it 8-1 One Hit Wonders after the fourth. Stiff Sox would score three runs in the top of the 5th on an RBI single by Anthony Crespo and a sac fly. One Hit Wonders answered with another big inning in the bottom of the 5th as they put up seven more runs on RBI singles by Dave Larkin, Groff, Baughner and Dave Ketterlinus and an RBI double by Cooker as they took a commanding 15-4 lead over Stiff Sox heading into the sixth. Both teams would fail to score in the sixth. Stiff Sox needing a miracle to extend this game put up five runs in the top of the 7th on RBI singles by Matt Brady and Purshock and an RBI triple by Andrew Bertolino, but it would not be enough as One Hit Wonders defeats Stiff Sox 15-9.
Game 4: Doc's Irish Pub vs Stiff Sox
Doc's got on the board first on an RBI single by Matt Fronheiser in the top of the 1st. Stiff Sox answered back with a run of their own as they scored one run on an RBI double by Jose Sanchez in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game 1-1 after the first. Doc's scored four runs in the top of the 2nd on a fielder's choice and an RBI triple by Paul Elliot. Stiff Sox came out swinging in the bottom of the 2nd as they scored 8 runs on an RBI single by Andrew Bertolino and homers by Tommy Gallagher, Anthony Crespo and Sanchez to go up 9-5 over Doc's after the second. Doc's would get one more run in the top of the 3rd on an RBI single by Ryan Black to make it 9-6 Stiff Sox after the third. Stiff Sox would expand their lead in the fourth and fifth innings as they scored seven runs on a couple RBI singles by Sanchez, RBI double by Nick Purshock and a couple sac flies to expand their lead to 16-6 after the fifth. Doc's would get four back in the top of the 6th on RBI singles by AJ Bagushinski and John Beard along with an RBI double by Black. An RBI single by Dan Stahl for Stiff Sox in the bottom of the 6th would make the score 18-10 Stiff Sox heading into the seventh. Doc's would fail to score in the 7th and secure the win for Stiff Sox. Stiff Sox big offensive day leads the way as they defeat Doc's Irish Pub 18-10.
