Birds of War vs Sprouse Electric

The 5 seed Birds of War take on the 4 Seed Sprouse Electric in game 1 of the summer playoffs. Birds of War start off fast with two solo home runs from Jay Cowan and Matt Jacobson and then grab two more with an RBI double from Sonny Rey and rbi single from Chris Day. Sprouse is able to grab one when Tyler Reese scores on a Damien Scott fielder’s choice to bring it to 4-1 after 1. Birds of War get a sac fly from Walt Childs and an Austin Devlin rbi double to extend the lead to 5. Sprouse fights back and grab 2 in the second with a 2 run RBI from Mike Simko to bring it 4-3 after 2. Birds of War get 3 more in the third, with an rbi single from Scott Chmura, a sac fly from Chris Day, and an rbi double from John Laino. Sprouse Electric cant score in the 3rd or 4th and Birds of War goes into the 5th up 6. They get a solo Home Run from Matt Jacobson, and then rattle off rbi singles from Sonny Rey, John Laino, Ryan McAvy, Zach Schrim, Walt Childs, and Austin Devlin. They climb to a 17-4 lead, but Sprouse gets a Home Run from Bryan King to be at 17-5 after 5. Birds of War add another in the sixth with an rbi double from Sonny Rey, Sprouse gets another solo Home Run from Damien Scott, and then Birds of War put it away with an rbi single from Zach Schrim and Walt Childs gets an rbi triple to capitalize the win.

Dugout Demons VS Dead Ringers

Dugout Demons, playing with only 8 and taking an out, take two innings before they get one across. They grab one in the 3rd with an RBI double from David Wagner. For Dead Ringers, Justin Longo leads off with a triple, but then gets called out for off the bag. Through 3, Dugout Demons faces the minimum batters with Longo’s triple being the only hit. In the 4th, Dugout Demons get an rbi single from Nate Gregory, two rbi single from Sam Smith, and a 3 run Home Run from David Wagner to take a 7-0 lead. Leadoff hitter Justin Longo finally gets his second at bat of the game for Dead Ringers and adds the second hit of the game with a solo Home Run to get Ringers on the board. Dugout Demons adds another with a Nate Gregory rbi single and then add two more with a 2 run Home Run from John Wagner in the 6th. They add two more with a David Wagner 2 run Home Run to bring it to 12-1 going into the bottom of the 7th. Dead Ringers start off the bottom of the seventh with a Jake Blum double and then get a run on a ground out from Jose Pittman, but that’s all they can muster and they fall short.

Birds of War vs Morning Wood

Birds of War, the 5 seed, take on the 1 seed Morning Wood in the first semifinal game. They start off quick with a 2 run Home Run from Matt Jacobson, but Morning Wood grab the lead with a Tim Gluck rbi single and a 2 run Nick Carl Home Run. Morning Wood adds 1 in the second with a Dennis D’Angelo rbi single to take a 4-2 lead. They add another in the 4th with another Dennis D’Angelo rbi single and 3 more in the 5th with a Tim Gluck 2 run Home Run and Connor Quinn rbi single to take a 8-2 lead. Birds of War puts up a fight, tying it up in the top of the 6th with rbi singles from Austin Devlin, Jay Cowan, Scott Chmura, and Justin Kneebone and then 2 rbis on a Chris Day single. We go into the bottom of the sixth all tied at 8. Tim Frie decides that is too close and uses his team’s third Home Run efficiently with a Grand Slam and then Nick Pigott and Trevor Rice add one each with an rbi single to bring the lead up to 14-8. Birds of War get a sac fly from Austin Devlin, but they fall short and Morning Wood advances to their first final of the year.

Morning Wood wins 14-9

Dugout Demons VS Philly’s Phinest

The 6 seed Dugout Demons face the 2 seed Philly’s Phinest in the second semifinal playoff game, a rematch of the spring finals. Dugout Demons, again playing with 8, start off with a sac fly from Sean Brennan and an rbi double from Sam Smith, but end the inning with an automatic out. Philly’s Phinest grab the lead in the bottom of the 1st with an rbi double from Mike Rocks Jr, rbi Double from Tony Summers, and a run on a fielder’s choice. The second is scoreless and then Dugout Demons get an rbi double from John Wagner, but the rally gets killed but the automatic out again in the third. Philly’s Phinest take the lead back with 2 runs on rbi singles from Ray Rocks and John Quartullo but Demons refuse to quit. They get 3 on rbi singles from Sam Smith and aggressive running by Pat Maloney and Sean Brennan, who both score on an error. Once again, their rally is killed by the second out of the inning this time with the automatic out, which was 5 of the 21 outs for the team. Dugout Demons get 4 more in the 5th with a two rbi single from Dawson Moss and a two run Home Run from David Wagner. Despite getting 5 less outs, we go into the bottom of the 5th up 11- 6. Ray Rocks cuts it down to a 3 run game with a 2 run Home Run and then they tie it up in the bottom of the 6th with a sac fly from Mike Rocks Jr and a Tony Summers Home Run to tie it up. The bottom of the seventh brings us to a tie game with Philly’s Phinest coming up. They get a walk and a single to put two on, and Joe Carpino hits a walkoff single to advance Philly’s Phinest to their second Championship of the year.
