Wildfire VS Balls Deep

Balls Deep kicks off the summer season with a quiet first inning before Wildfire scores the first run of the season off an Eric Simonait rbi single in the bottom of the first. Balls Deep get back-to-back RBI doubles in the second from Tim Fossile and Will Schulz to grab the lead, but Wildfire grabs it right back with two RBI singles from Joe Guinan and Rob Philippi. Balls Deep ties it up in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single from Tim Gluck but Wildfire once again responds with 4 of their own in the bottom of the third with RBI singles from Chris Smith and Jim Catanzaro and a two rbi double from Joe Guinan. They add to it in the bottom of the 4th with a rbi single from Phil Purchase and Chris Smith before a two rbi triple from Tom Orlando to open the game up to 12-3. A scoreless fifth has no highlights and then the top of the sixth sees a Bob Stanley rbi double, Casey Condron rbi single, a Will Schulz sac fly and Josh Carl rbi single. In the top of the seventh Balls Deep gets two more on a Tim Frei home run, but it isn’t enough to come back and Wildfire wins.

Wildfire wins 11-9.

Player of the Game: Phil Purchase, 3-3, walk, three singles, rbi, two runs.

Guiseppe’s VS Balls Deep

Balls Deep looks to bounce back after their first game but Guiseppe’s has other plans and put two up in the top of the first, with an RBI double from Brett Broderick, who scores on an error as well. Balls Deep can’t get anything started in the bottom of the first but then get a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second. In the bottom of the second, Balls Deep starts off with three straight singles before Will Schulz knock two in with an RBI double. Tommy Gallo knocks another in with a rbi single and then Trevor Rice gets one on a fielder’s choice and Tim Frei and Tim Gluck each knock one in with RBI singles. The top of the third sees a 2 run Home Run from Tom Jacob to get Guiseppe’s back to within two and then Balls Deep can’t do anything to extend the lead. Guiseppe’s takes advantage and tie it up in the top of the fourth with two runs on errors. The bottom of the 4th sees another big inning from Balls Deep, with a rbi single from Tim Gluck to load the bases and then a bases clearing 3 rbi triple from Bob Stanley. Casey Condron knocks him in with a single and then immediately scores on Tim Fossile’s rbi double. Will Schulz follows that and swaps spots with Fossile on an RBI double and Tommy Gallo gets a rbi single to cap the 8 run inning off, taking a 14-6 lead. Guiseppe’s keeps it close, with 4 in the fifth. Tom Jacob starts the inning off with a double and Brett Broderick swaps spots with him on a rbi double. John Frank knocks Broderick in with an RBI single and then Greg Jacobs hits a rbi single of his own. Mario Varani follows it with another RBI single to try to keep it close. The bottom of the fifth sees Tim Gluck hit a two-run home run to extend the lead. In the top of the sixth Guiseppe’s get two solo home runs from Tom Jacob and John Frank and then get three flyouts from Balls Deep to end the 6th. We go to the top of the seventh with a 16-12 Balls Deep lead. Guiseppe’s gets two runners on and a rbi single from Brett Broderick but fall short and Balls Deep splits their double header.

Balls Deep wins 16-13.

Dugout Demons VS Guiseppe’s

Guiseppe’s looks to split their double header as well and open up against Dugout Demons who bat and field only 9, but neither team crosses the plate in the first. The second sees Johnny Pergine, the sub for Dugout Demons, get a rbi single to start the scoring. The third is when things become fun. With one on and one out, TJ Pergine crushes a ball, but Guiseppe’s right center fielder gets a great read on it and robs Pergine to prevent what could have been a two-run home run. Guiseppe’s takes that momentum into the bottom of the third and start the inning off with 4 singles, two rbi singles from Dave Barth and Tom Jacob, then a bases clearing three rbi single from George Jacob, then reload the bases and Greg Jacob gets a rbi walk, all before Guiseppe’s records their first out. After getting one out, Brendon Gray, who started the inning with a single, hits a Grand Slam to cap off the scoring and Guiseppe’s puts up 10 in the inning. Not to be outdone, Dugout Demons answers back in the top of the 4th, John Wagner hits a 2-run home run, then Jimmy Ruskos says I can do better with a three-run home run. TJ Pergine adds another on a rbi single, and dugout cut the lead to three. Guiseppe’s answers right back with a two rbi single from Greg Jacob and a Paul Kosiek rbi on a fielder’s choice to get the lead back to six. The fifth sees another big inning from Dugout Demons, with a rbi single from Christian Wagner, two RBI single from Nate Gregory, and a rbi single from Pat O’Brien. They cut Guiseppe’s lead to one going into the bottom of the 5th. Tom Jacob extends Guiseppe’s lead with a two-run home run and then Brett Broderick scores on an error to get the lead back up to 4. Dugout Demons storms out in the sixth and get rbi singles from Jimmy Ruskos, Nate Gregory, TJ Pergine, and AJ Dejewski and then a sac fly from Sean Brennan to take the lead going into the bottom of the sixth 19-16. Greb Jacobs scores on an error, then Mario Varani gets a rbi double and Dave Barth matches him with an RBI double of his own. Sadly, we don’t get to see an exciting 7th inning due to time and this one ends in a tie.

Philly’s Phinest goes into the bottom of the 7th down 10-3 and make it interesting, with a bases loaded walk from Mike Rocks Jr and Ray Rocks, bases clearing 3 rbi triple from Steve Johnson, and then the scoring on an error on the next at bat.
