Game #1 – Sillies vs. Maize

Sillies will come out firing getting a homer from Bill Hamlet right out of the gate to take a 1-0 lead. Maize will come back swinging with five runs of their own, on an RBI triple from Austin Grasso and two run bomb from Christian Hazlett. Maize will increase their lead to six after back-to-back RBI singles from Tom Egitto and Matt Bagenhagen. Sillies will come back with a strong second third inning tying this game up. Andrew Werkheiser knocks in a run on a single, Kris Karaba knocks in a run on a triple and Hamlett will go yard again with a two-run bomb. Maize will go up again, this time with a Wil Das two run bomb. This game would go quiet until the sixth when Sillies grab another six runs. Josh Owens starts the scoring with a sac fly, followed by a two run double from Hamlet, RBI double from Justin Glennon and RBI singles from Karaba and George Slawter. Sillies lead 13-9 heading into the bottom half of the inning. Maize will respond with five runs and takes a one run lead. Grasso will get a run on an RBI triple, while Aaron Worthington and Gary Kleinschmidt net runs on doubles. Sillies will come to the plate trailing by one, but will fall as they can’t push across any runs as Maize will move on. Maize wins 14-13.

Will Das (The Maize) - 2/3, HR, 2 RBI’s




Game #2 – Dominicks vs. Wehrungs

Dominicks come out swinging for three runs out of the gate. Rob Schuh and Cody Miller will knock in runs on singles, while Eric Rosenblum knocks in a run on a sac fly. Wehrung’s get five runs back on back-to-back homers from Tyler Caraway and Luke Hendricks as well as RBI singles from Paul Muth and Eric Tardy give them a two-run lead. Wehrungs keep it going in the second with three more runs on a Luke Hendricks bomb. Dominicks have a massive third inning getting an RBI double from Dan Muldoon, two run triple from Joe Perry and RBI singles from Rob Schuh, Emily Kline and Eric Rosenblum. Wehrung’s will get to within a run in the fourth after getting an RBI double from Paul Muth and RBI single from Eric Taroy. Wehrungs will tie this game up in the sixth with an RBI single from Sammy Calderon as we head to the last inning. Seven innings is not enough as we will need to go to extras to decide this game. Wehrungs get a base runner and will walk this game off on a Paul Muth RBI single. Wehrungs win 12-11 and will move on to the championship.

Game #3 – The Maize vs. Carrolls

Carrolls come out swinging hot getting four runs out of the gate. Kyle Gallagher nets two runs on a double while Bill Shipe and Ali Theis knock in runs on singles. Carrolls will get one more run in the second before exploding for seven in the third. Bryan Bart and Kevin Shinkunas drive in two runs each on doubles, while Greg Lesher knocks in two runs on a two-run bomb. Maize finally gets on the board in the fourth, getting five runs on two run doubles from Aaron Worthington and Gary Kleinschmidt. But back comes Carrolls for nine more runs. Sarah Yoos and Bryan Bart account for two more RBIs each as Carrolls put the route on in this game and will win early due to mercy rule. Carrolls win 21-5 and will move on next week to the championship game!
