B EAST Playoffs

(5) Balls Deep VS (4) Dead Ringers


Sadly, Balls Deep forfeits their final game of the year and their season comes to an end earlier than they want. Dead Ringers advances to play The Ones

(3) Birds of War VS (6) Wildfire

In the 3 V 6 seeding matchups, Birds of War is the Home Team and Wildfire will start us off. They’ll grab one off a Rob Philippi rbi single to take an early lead, but it doesn’t last long. Birds of War jump out in the first with a 2 run Home Run from Matt Jacobson, rbi single from Sonny Rey, and a sac fly from Alex Olmeda to score 5 in the first. They will add one more in the bottom of the second with a rbi from Austin Devlin on a routing 6-3 after a leadoff triple from Ryan McAvey. Wildfire grabs one back in the third off a solo Home Run from Eric Simonait, but Birds of War doubles it up with two of their own off rbi singles from Alex Olmeda and Chris Day. Wildfire makes things interesting, getting three in the 4th with a rbi single from Bill Aichroth, rbi single from Josh Torres, and an additional run on a Tony Sanchez fielder’s choice. Birds of War starts pouring it on from there though, scoring 4 in the 4th with 2 run Home Runs from Tom Bush and John Laino and then finish it off in the 5th with a two rbi triple from Jay Cowan, rbi single from Tom Bush, two rbi triple from Justin Kneebone, rbi double from John Laino, rbi single from Ryan Thompson, and then Sonny Rey walks it off with an rbi double of his own. This one ends in 5 and Birds of War advances to play the two seed Phillys Phinest.

Birds of War win 20-5.

(4) Dead Ringers VS (1) The Ones


Dead Ringers will come out and grab two in the first with a rbi double from Jake Blum and sac fly from Chris Shaffer. The Ones take an early lead with 4 in the bottom with a two rbi double from Richie Zupkusky, rbi single from CJ Steiner, and a run scored on a fielder’s choice from Andrew Ruhf. Dead Ringers grabs the lead back in the top of the second with a two rbi single from Jake Blum, rbi single from Jared Saras, and rbi double from Justin Dinardo. The Ones are scoreless in the bottom of the second and Dead Ringers scoreless in the top of the third. The Ones ties it up in the bottom of the third with sac flies from Richie Zupkusky and Scott Flaherty. Dead Ringers grabs the lead right back in the top of the fourth, with a rbi double from Justin Dinardo and rbi single from Randy Brymer. The Ones erupt in the 4th though, scoring 9 on rbi singles from Buddy Schwarz, Ryan Kerns, Mike Hensman, and Jarret Kerns, rbi double from Zach Lentchner, and a two run Home Run from Richie Zupkusky. Dead Ringers can’t get any across in the top of the fifth and the Ones capitalize, getting a rbi triple from Adam Weaver, rbi single from Dave Slaymaker, rbi double from Zach Lentchner, rbi single from Jarrett Kerns, and a walk off run rule two run Home Run from Richie Zupkusky. The Ones take this and advance to the finals.

The Ones win 23-8.

(3) Birds of War VS (2) Phillys Phinest


Birds of War come out fast with 3 runs, one on an error and two on a rbi double from Justin Kneebone. Philly’s Phinest grab the lead in the bottom of the first though, with a Joe Carpino rbi double, Steve Johnson three run Home Run, and a run score on a Chris Rommel fielder’s choice. Birds of War doesn’t cross the plate on the second and Philly’s Phinest adds 3 in the bottom, with a rbi double from Mike Rocks Jr and two rbi single from Steve Johnson. The third is scoreless, but the 4th makes up for it. Birds of War gets a sac fly from Alex Olmeda, rbi single from Chris Day and Austin Devlin, and a grand slam from Matt Jacobson to cross 7 and take a 10-8 lead. Philly’s Phinest answers back with 4 of their own with an RBI single from Mike Rocks Jr, 2 run Home Run from Steve Johnson, and solo Home Run from Tony Summers to retake the lad at 12-10. Birds of Wars ties it up in the top of the fifth with a rbi single from Chris Day and a run scored on a Ryan McAvey fielder’s choice. Philly’s Phinest grabs the lead back again, with 2 runs on an rbi double from Joe Carpino, followed by a 2 rbi double from Mike Rocks Jr and then Steve Johnson sends a moonshot, but we are at Hatfield and Philly’s Phinest are over the limit, so that 2 run Home Run ends the inning as the third out. The top of the sixth sees Birds of War grabs the lead again with a huge inning. They start with a solo Home Run from Matt Jacobson, rbi singles from Ryan Thompson, Chris Day, Ryan McAvey, Jay Cowan, and Tom Bush as well as a 2 rbi double from Alex Olmeda. They will cross 10 to grab a 22-17 lead. Philly’s Phinest crosses 3 in the bottom of the 6th to get it close, with rbi singles from Chris Rommel, Dom Rocks, and Billy Schubert. The 7th sees Birds of War go down in order and we go to the bottom of the seventh with Birds of War up 2. Steve Johnson grabs one on a rbi single and then scores on a hard-hit ball from Billy Schubert that Birds of War can’t handle to tie the game. We go into extra innings to decide this one. Birds of War grabs the lead with one on a rbi single from Austin Devlin, but Dom Rocks hits a sac fly to tie it up in the bottom of the 8th. The 9th sees tom Bush knock one in on a sac fly and we go into the bottom of the 9th with Birds of War up 24-23. Mike Rocks Sr gets a single to start the inning and put two runners on, with a runner starting on second for each inning of extras, and Steve Johnson delivers a two rbi double to walk this one off and send Philly’s Phinest to the finals to face The Ones.

Philly’s Phinest wins 24-23.
