Men's and Coed All-Star Restricted Lists / 2020

Post by sixofdiamonds » Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:42 am

Men's and coed league all-star restricted lists have been formulated and posted online. Each list is comprised of 3 different sets of color coded names. The first set of names in the men's league list is color coded red. Players listed in RED are among the top 100 men's league players from 2019. These players shall be considered all-stars for the entire 2020 season. The first two sets of names in the coed league list are color coded in red. The first list of players in red are among the top 100 coed league players from 2019. The second set of names color coded in red are the top 100 men's league players from 2019. Each player listed in red shall be considered an all-star for the entire 2020 season.

The second set of names is in green. Players listed in GREEN are not among the top 100 men's league players from 2019. These players shall not be considered all-stars for the entire 2020 season unless they made all-star in a prior year in which case a manager must have that player petitioned off the list. If a player is eligible to be petitioned off the list and a manager fails to do so, that player shall be considered an all-star until such time as he is officially removed from the list.

The third set of names is in gray. Players listed in GRAY have not qualified for all-star consideration with 36 or more ABs last year. These players cannot become all-stars this year nor are they eligible to be petitioned off the list. If they were all-stars last year, their status remains the same for this year.

The coed league all-star restricted list has been revised for two reasons. Some managers are still having trouble understanding the color coding of the lists so the color coding system has been amended. Hopefully, this will give everyone a better understanding of what it all means. Secondly, after a long-time league member stated in an email to me last night how "the pool of guys has shrunk pretty tight", an alarm went off in my head. I immediately realized the 100 coed player cut-off was too high relative to the number of coed teams in the league. As a result, the list will be pared down to 65. Hence, 35 coed league players are no longer all-stars for the 2020 softball season. A revised list has been posted.

The men's league player cut-off for the men's league, which is used for the coed league as well, will remain at 100. When looking at the newly revised list, the names that appear in RED are coed league all-stars for 2020 based off their 2019 coed league production. The names that appear in BLUE are coed league all-stars for 2020 based off their 2019 men's league production. RED and BLUE names cannot be petitioned off the all-star list. These players are coed league all-stars for the entire 2020 season. Names that appear in GREEN can mean two different things. Either that player was never an all-star to begin with and will not be one in 2020 or... that player was an all-star in the past and is now eligible to be petitioned off the list for 2020. If a player is eligible to be petitioned off the list and a manager fails to do so, that player shall be considered an all-star until such time as he is officially removed from the list.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no need for managers to petition any of the 35 players coming off the list as a result of the newly revised list. I will take care of that.

All-stars from prior years that find themselves on the green list are eligible to come off the list. If you were never an all-star and you find your name on the green list, it simply means your numbers weren't strong enough to make the list this year.

How about an older guy like me who is on one of these lists, but now qualifies as an Eddie this year?

No such thing as an eddie all-star. Damn, Ray. I can't believe you are an eddie.
